This is an excellent place to come eat and relax and have a drink.
I was there this evening, the gentleman that took care of me was awesome, he is also a bartender and made me the perfect martini.

I would suggest if you are away from home and in Birmingham for work, go to this restaurant.
Everyone is so pleasant.
Food is exquisite.

Decided to try the brunch, and omg I’m so glad I did! We started with the smoked fish dip, which was super yummy with the perfect amount of spice and dill. We got the Rooted in Paradise drink also delicious. But the star of the show was the dry-aged burger. The flavor was incredible, and I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend trying this place for the burger alone!

I have eaten here twice and the food is on point, along with the atmosphere. This is my favorite seafood spot in Bham so far.

Automatic Seafood came highly recommended as a must stop when traveling through Birmingham. Upon arrival, was very impressed by the ambience along with interior design. The service was absolutely externally. Our waiter, Adam, was probably one of the most attentive waiters I’ve ever had & we ordered nearly the entire menu as depicted below. Everything was outstanding, some standouts were:
•Fresh Stone crab
•Fish collar (dip your yeast rolls in the juice)
•Octopus
• the grilled oysters were perfection

Entrees:
• Swordfish broiled in duck fat
• The Whole Flounder was described as the best on the menu
•NY strip was unreal, paired with crispy potatoes. Incredible
•Grouper was also outstanding

The drinks were outstanding, ended the meal with an espresso martini that was probably the best of all time. They do it right here- the chefs and line cooks have incredible attention to detail before ANYTHING leaves the kitchen. The wait staff is superb and runs like a finely oiled machine. The only time we had to flag anyone down was to ask a question about the menu or put more food in. I was asking about their dry ager as pictured below and they are going to do bacon from the tuna which is just mind boggling. The Maître d' explained how chef Adam is all about sustainability and using every ingredient to its max extent which is extremely impressive for a seafood
Establishment, especially one so far inland.

Once you go, not if- make sure you come hungry and able to enjoy a full 3 course meal. There is something for everyone here and you will leave blown away, by service, ambience, & the wide array of culinary perfection you will experience.

A top 5 meal of all time for me. Thanks Chef Adam and Waiter Adam! Making a Monday before Thanksgiving a memorable meal 🙌🏻

I was in town on business during dinner.I was recommended to have brunch at automatic seafood. I was dining by myself, so I sat at the bar
And as the moment I sat down, I felt like I was interrupting and bothering the bar staff.Meanwhile, I was the only one at the bar. I ordered several side orders for breakfast. Every item on the plate was cold, including the cold greasy bacon. i sat there with an empty cup of coffee.Whereas the bartender would not approach me and ask me if I was okay or needed anything. I simply push the cold food plates away and asked for my check. She asked me if I wanted it boxed up and I said, not really everything was cold. There was no type of discussion or solution or even possibly a manager to come over. And at least acknowledge the situation. I typically do not leave reviews. However, it was such a horrible experience.I thought it would be worth posting.Maybe it was just a bad morning or a day.As I heard good reviews about their dinners. However, I would be concerned about brunch. possibly just an overworked staff.

We got the blackened mahi sandwich and fish and chips. We also had the truffle fries. Everything was delicious and we did not want the lunch to end! The house made ketchup is fantastic. Savannah had great energy and was super accommodating to a dairy allergy.

Lobster pot pie was yummy, but the roasted butternut squash stole the show. The black forest cake was very nice but small, and i had to stop and get a Hershey bar after dinner to fully satisfy my chocolate craving. Well executed French 75s made up any deficit. Sat at bar, and service was excellent and attentive. Overall vibe is a bit bougie, but that's ok too.

Automatic Seafood is a hidden gem in Birmingham, offering a casual yet flavorful seafood experience that feels both fresh and approachable. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, with simple décor that keeps the focus on the food. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, Automatic Seafood delivers consistently satisfying meals.

The menu is full of classic seafood favorites, from fried shrimp and oysters to po’boys and crab cakes. Each dish is prepared with care, highlighting fresh ingredients and bold flavors. The fried seafood is crispy without being greasy, and the seasoning strikes a perfect balance of spice and savoriness. Sandwiches and platters come in generous portions, making it a great value for the quality.

The service was phenomenal which is why we give it five stars. The bathroom was also good and the food was tasty. The one con is the small menu that didn’t have many options.

Phillip took excellent care of us; we didn't order from the menu, we just asked him to bring what he thought was the best, The food did not disappoint and I did everything but lick my plate.
