Food was good, price was a little bit high for what u get. But the place is great otherwise

I came in with high expectations, and this dish still blew me away. The fish collar was perfectly cooked — crispy on the outside, super tender and juicy on the inside. It’s not something you see everywhere, but they absolutely nailed it. You get that rich, buttery flavor from the fattier part of the fish, and whatever sauce or seasoning they use complements it perfectly without overpowering the natural taste.

If it’s on the menu when you visit, order it. No questions. It’s a hidden gem and honestly worth going back for on its own. The whole vibe of the place is great too — upscale but not stuffy, with really friendly staff. Highly recommend!

We had a great experience celebrating our anniversary here. The service from Jonathan was spectacular as he pointed us in the right direction on the menus. We ordered about five things and it all was fresh coming out in a timely manner. The cocktails complemented everything we had even the raw oysters. The prices for the dishes felt worth every bit of the portion sizes from appetizers, mains, and dessert. It was all spot on.

Went here for my anniversary and was not disappointed. For being in a landlocked city you walk in and immediately feel like you're near the coast. For drinks we started with a martini and a yuzu strawberry cocktail which were both 10/10. We got the tuna crudo which was incredibly fresh and flavorful, the crispy fish cheeks which were the perfect combination of crispy and melt in your mouth tender. Then we got the blackened amberjack, yeast rolls, hush puppies, and broccoli. Then to finish key lime pie.
That was possibly the best broccoli I've had in my life and the rolls were to die for. I love how everything is a perfect mix between southern seafood and Asian flare. The only thing I wouldn't order again were the hush puppies they were by no means bad but when you have such unique options I think I'd be happy getting hush puppies elsewhere and saving room for something more unique. I'm already dying to go back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely loved our brunch experience at Automatic Seafood and Oysters! Everything from the atmosphere to the service was top-notch. But the real standout? The French toast — hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside. I’m still thinking about it! Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend for a special brunch outing!

So happy we went here! We shared the yeast rolls, fish collar, triggerfish and potatoes. All phenomenal, especially the fish collar and yeast rolls (the butter is to die for). The scallops were incredible and such a creative dish. Our server, Adam, was super helpful with recommendations and extremely kind and personable. Would love to come back next time I’m in Birmingham:)

Ive been to automatic seafood twice and have had great experiences both times. On both occasions we were celebrating a birthday. The service has always been warm but not overbearing, the cocktails are good and pair with the food well. Both times i have gone, i have been impressed with the technique of the food and the flavors. The quality of the seafood shines without being overly simple. I was surprised that entrees don’t come with much on the side, but i have left full and happy both times I’ve gone. Some highlights from my last dinner there were the crab claws, oysters, crispy halibut, and the strawberry cake.

PERFECTLY COOKED FRESH FISH AT AUTOMATIC SEA FOOD

We were very impressed with the quality of the sea food and
the energetic atmosphere of AUTOMATIC SEA FOOD. This is a large
restaurant located at 29th and fifth avenue south near Pepper Place.
The service was friendly, timely and excellent. I love the Ceasar Salad,
the Bok Choy, and fried Basmati rice. We had the red fish and the red snapper
which were perfectly cooked.
We had cold water oysters (delicious) and they serve them with tiny homemade saltine crackers.  The Caesar salad- croutons were to die for.  They offer Good wine choices- Albariño, arneis, muscadet, Sancerre...all by the glass and
good choices by bottle.  Our favorite was the fried Basmati rice with Indian seasoning, smoked fish and peanuts! Our only complaint was the excessively loud music
which the staff was kind enough to soften. We thought the prices were very reasonable. All of the entrees were under thirty dollars. We will definitely be back.

AUTOMATIC SEAFOOD
We had the Niçoise Salad with tuna which was superb.
The service was excellent. We had the waiter turn of
the music. We go out to eat to enjoy conversation with
our friends. The loud music made talking impossible.

My husband and I had the most amazing experience while we visited Birmingham. Automatic Seafood served delicious oysters, cocktails, and just the perfect dinner. We could not pass up the Key Lime Pie, and we recommend that no one miss out on that, it was the best we ever tasted! We had the pleasure of having Emily serve us at the bar - 10 out of 10 - totally recommend!! We could not have written or wished for a better dinner experience, thank you for the effort and service.

Just stopped in for happy hour oysters and a glass of wine. Phillip waited on me and was an absolute pleasure. Talking about Birmingham, wine, oysters, and a tad history of the food scene. One of the best service experiences I’ve had and it was all for 6 oysters and a chill white wine.
