I would love to review this restaurant but unfortunately we left after being seated for 25 minutes without any acknowledgement at all. :( Would have expected better from a restaurant of this caliber. *VERY small restaurant!

Wonder Food and Drink experiment for quick brunch before boarding Amtrak train to NOLA! Yummy

I Had a deeply disappointing experience at this so-called French restaurant. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that the owner had no interest in engaging with me, the only brown person in the room, while actively chatting with the white diners around me. The service was painfully slow, and when the food finally arrived, it was bland and poorly prepared. The only bright spot was our server, who was kind but clearly not properly trained.

As I was leaving, the owner actually came outside to confront me about why I didn’t finish my food—in a defensive and aggressive manner. It was an uncomfortable and bizarre way to end an already unpleasant meal.

I love supporting local businesses, but I refuse to support one that lacks both quality and basic respect for all its customers. I won’t be back, and based on my experience, I’d be glad to see this place shut down.

It was our first time here and immediately when we walked in the tiny restaurant we realized how exceptionally loud it was. There were very few tables and they were tiny. We were also placed next to another table which was about a foot away from us. So much for privacy. Not that anyone could hear our conversation anyway based on the decibel level. We ordered drinks and waited for what seemed an inordinate amount of time. They didn't seem to be understaffed but the staff they had seemed extremely unorganized. Based on the delay of the drinks, we decided we had better go ahead and order our appetizers. My husband ordered the escargot which (when they finally arrived) were oily. I ordered the cheese plate which was nothing more than a tiny block of cheese the size of a crouton with honey drizzled over it. Not a cracker or piece of bread in sight, all for $8!! It was not good and I even enjoy strong cheeses. We promptly ordered our entrees because we knew there would be a delay. I also ordered another drink which after 20 minutes still hadn't arrived. I asked the waiter about it and magically it showed up after that. That seemed to be the theme of the night. So we waited and waited for our entrees as we watched plates and plates of bread go out as well as food for guests who I know for certain arrived after we did. At this point, with no more that a couple bites of crappy cheese in my belly, I was absolutely starving. I ended up getting up to track down our server to ask why the delay. Once again, like magic, he tells me my steak is ready and now it appears. I ordered the steak au poivre which was drowning in a plate of brown sauce that was so incredibly salty, it was almost inedible. By this point we were fed up and just ready to leave. I would absolutely avoid this place unless you want extremely long wait times, mediocre at best slow service, extremely salty food and obnoxious ambience. Suffice to say we were utterly disappointed and wont be returning.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I am extremely disappointed with the service at this restaurant. My friends and I made a reservation for a birthday dinner, and after arriving, we were completely ignored for at least 15 minutes. (Keep in mind they charge $25 per person if the reservation is canceled.) The manager or staff member walked past us without acknowledging our presence, and even though the bartender smiled at us, we were still left unserved. After finally deciding to leave, we saw staff immediately assisting a group of Caucasian customers. It felt like we were discriminated against and treated unfairly. I will not be returning to this establishment. It is very obvious our skin color was the issue.

First time eating here, it was a brunch service. Food was great, our server was attentive however kitchen wait times were excessively long.. over an hour for entrees and they were out of coffee at brunch?? Would return for the food & to give a 2nd chance because maybe this was a bad day.. however wouldn’t recommend if you have time constraints or if this wait time is normal.

Google says they have vegan options but just got off the phone and told me they do not have any vegan options.

Hamburger was not good really weird taste. The chicken was served with a kind of tomato sauce not fresh I.e can taste. Definitely overpriced for what it is. Not a real French taste.

We had a great experience here. La Fête has a real French vibe.

They have a lot of food options that pair well with wine. We got one of the cheese plates, deviled eggs (with olives), and the bread with butter. Everything was very good.

As our entrées we got the trout and the half chicken. Delicious!

The music and ambiance was also great. Very good experience.

Best dinner start to finish I've had in Birmingham. Unpretentious, laid back atmosphere. Impeccable service. Perfect Caesar salad. Unbelievable mushroom tart. Melt in your mouth steak au poivre. Delectable burger. And James makes a superb dirty martini.
