So good! I do wish they had a more traditional tomato, chunky salsa but we really enjoyed the steak torta and queso!

We didn’t know about this restaurant until a week ago, and now we’ve been there twice. Good food and a very relaxed atmosphere. Be sure to try the garlic fries, the shrimp tacos, the Cuban sandwich and the flan. Very nice staff, very reasonably priced.

The Cuban torta melted in my mouth! These French fries are habit forming.

I have missed the Cantina! No one makes a better taco and their guacamole is heaven. Their salmon is an excellent choice and I crave their salad regularly. You just can’t go wrong here.

Went to their old location 7 years ago passing through town. Were in town again and hunted them down. Excellent food. Will definitely come back when we’re in the area.

First time here and we will definitely be back! Margaritas were delicious and some of the best shrimp tacos I’ve had!

We ordered for takeout tonight, Natchitos, cheese quesadilla, cilantro chicken and the Cuban sandwich . Added quacamole and chips. It was all very fresh and we really enjoyed it! We will order again!

When you arrive at Cantina, you order at the front. When we went I only saw one man taking orders, serving food, and helping customers. He was extremely nice and they weren't overly busy but it was definitely more than a one person task. They were accommodating of me wanting to exchange my mashed potatoes for fries. The food took a while to come out which was expected since they were more than likely short staffed. I was unfortunately disappointed by the food. The salmon was very well cooked but there was no flavor. It was not seasoned. The garlic fries seemed like they were tossed into raw garlic. I love garlic but this was too raw for fries. My friend got the churrsaco steak and was not impressed. I thought the steak was very dry, but I don't have a previous experience to compare it to so maybe that was the way it should have been prepared. The pricing is reasonable in my opinion but the portions are not large at all.

I was thrilled to visit the new Cantina, having dined at Pepper Place for years. My son and I had fresh & delicious guacamole, fish tacos, and a shrimp quesadilla. The service was amazing, too! We'll be back!

I used to work at Cantina when it was located in pepper place and have always loved the food. I finally got around to trying out their new location and I was pleasantly surprised. The quality of the food was on par if not better than my last visit. While some of the menu has changed, they kept a lot of the staple items that have kept me and others coming back. If you are looking for some of the best authentic Mexican cuisine in Birmingham, look no further.

I was happy to hear that Cantina opened back up a new brick and mortar location. I always enjoyed their location at pepper place and frequented the food truck. Finally made it to that side of town and was excited to have my favs - fish tacos and garlic fries, extra cilantro mayo on the side. Food was lackluster. Fries and soup were cold. My husband's steak sandwich and my fish for fish tacos were bit burnt/overcooked. Considering that side of town has many similar food options - Cantina will go to the bottom of the list.

We went thinking it was the original restaurant from the Southside. Boy, were we wrong. The first clue should have been the lack of patronage on a Saturday night. The prickly pear margarita was a sad remnant of the prior version. The garlic fries were soggy, the bear was flat, the chicken enchilada was cold and tasted weird. I tried to eat the food since we paid our money (BYW- you pay before you are seated- same as before). Unfortunately, I had to get the food off my stomach before leaving the restaurant. This used to be one of my favorite places to eat- so, I hope you can do better. Oh, I almost forgot the visible rat trap

A wonderful dinner for really good prices! You order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. We got our food fairly quickly and it was delicious. I ordered the nachitos, which was a perfect single serving. The inside is super cute too! I will definitely be back.
