When I arrived my food was ready she was alone working so the door was locked I had to wait to be let in. The chicken was fried one piece was fresh the other was refried and burnt did not eat it. I don't have a problem waiting for fresh hot food very disappointed.

I hate to write reviews like this but I have to tell the people!! The food was flavorless and tasteless! I’ve never had oxtails with no salt or seasoning. The juices in the oxtails were so light, it looked and taste like they were cook in water and oil only! Pinto beans were flavorless! It was unbelievable! I also had Mac n cheese and it wasn’t good either and the turnip greens are clearly canned turnip greens. The people were nice but that food was disgusting. Overall, I was utterly disappointed!! I paid $30 for soul food with no soul!! I will not be eating here again!!

FIRE THE COOK!!!...I paid over $30, the food had no seasonings at all. I ordered fried corn, blackeye peas, yams and pork chops all with no flavor. My plate ended up in the trash. Nice people though. The food needs work.

It always takes a long time and the last time I went September 2023 about a pork chop plate and there was a roach on the register when I was buying the food I will never go back again.

I ordered the chicken and dressing with cabbage and macaroni. The cabbage was absolutely not seasoned at all. The dressing was definitely the most disgusting part about it all. I had two bites of each part of the plate. Almost $20 for food my dog wouldn’t eat!

I ordered a vegetable plate of macaroni, rice, pinto beans, and cabbage. The food was absolutely and completely tasteless and flavorless! Nothing was seasoned, nothing at all. I've seen multiple people say this in their reviews as well. You would think the owners would take this into consideration but I guess not. I would NOT recommend this place if you love flavorful food. I had to season my whole plate. It literally tasted like they just cooked the food didn't add one drop of season at all. That was a waste of $15. Please do better owners/cooks.

Very nice people, great food, and a delightful experience
When walking in the door, you will get a hello. You'll also get a list of what is cooked fresh and will take longer. Order from the fresh everything else is cold and will need to be reheated when you get home. The guy cooking in the back will be real upset about that fresh order, but he will cook it. It's cool to wait for the food, because you'll also have to wait until they get done with they cigarette break to ring it up. The menu prices online will reflect $9 a plate. It's actually $12.50 to $13.50 a plate. They also don't offer Chicken breast. Any chicken plate you order will be a leg quarter

Just ate there with my Mom for lunch. Their menu is filled with classic soul food dishes. I had the fried chicken with mac and cheese and collards. They make the fried chicken fresh for each customer so be prepared for a bit of a wait but the result is truly worth it. The mac and cheese and collards were delicious. The service was excellent and you get the feeling that the two women working there have been doing this for decades; that their experience and wisdom comes through in the food they cook. I didnt think to try their desserts to my utter regret but it just means i have to come back again and make sure i try them next time. The decor was very classic mom-and-pop diner feel; very charming.
