Edit: after two unstellar experiences lately (awful wine by the glass, not-so-welcoming service and subpar pizza) I'm lowering the rating.
To me, Luca delivers the best pasta in town. Great quality and cooked al dente for real (not American al dente). Overall the food quality is good, and although it isn't cheap, wine prices are below average which keeps the total tab at a reasonable-ish figure. Service can be a bit slow but always very nice and professional. We have kids and like to stay in the market area, which is quieter and chiller.

My husband and I loved the atmosphere. We raved about it for days! We got a pizza with mushrooms and potatoes, and the fries to start. We'll be back.

As someone who is not from Alabama, I don’t visit often, but whenever I do go to Alabama, eating a Luca is always on the top of my bucket list. Everything on the menu tastes so fresh. I have never had a dish that I did not like. The staff are excellent from Busser to Server to Bartender, everyone there makes the restaurant an amazing experience. I look forward to returning.

Had a reservation for five on a Saturday night. Only downside to the entire night was having to sit at a four top with an additional chair at the end of the table. Figured making an actual reservation would get us a table made for five or more. The food was delicious & our server, William, was great. Had the fried mozzarella and the Luca fries for apps, very tasty. I had the rigatoni, which was very nice and cooked perfectly. Others had pizzas, campanelle, and a salad - all were well received. Would return again.

Customer service was excellent. Everyone greeted and made sure we got what we needed. Enjoyed the small market outside of main dining area.

The atmosphere and decor were nicely done. They have outdoor seating. Everything was great! Prompt service! Fresh food that was delicious! They have Happy Hour is daily 3-5 and I
enjoyed a red blend wine for half off!

The food was amazing!! Our waitress was not good. I go to lunch with friends once a month. For me good conversation and good food is important. Restaurants that don't have any soft surfaces to absorb sound are very loud. We could not hear others across the table. If the restaurant ever decided to improve noise reduction I'd be a regular. The food was really exceptional which is not easy to find in Birmingham.

This was such a lovely place for lunch! The online pictures of it do not do justice to the experience of the visit. We were so pleased with our service, I think his name was Jacob (I am so sorry if that is not correct) He was so sweet and helpful! We had the Eggplant Parmesan and it was a wonderful meal. But nothing could compare to the cannoli we had for desert! It was a comfortable space to be in every way!

Meh…… it’s not bad, but it’s definitely not my fave. It may be the problem of eating out in Birmingham on a Monday night. The drinks were really weak. I guess being spoiled by the likes of Fon Fon and Bottega at similar price points makes it tough for the competition.

I’ve tried this place several times and want to like it, but each time is disappointing. The food has always been very good for the price (definitely not a high end Italian place but for a casual spot it’s elevated), but the service has always been well below average.

A few words to describe the various servers we have had the last few times would be slow, inattentive, forgetful, and generally unprofessional. There could be various reasons for this from hiring practices, to a lack of training, but one of the big issues is that it seems management has done a bad job of overloading servers with too many tables.

On a different note, this week we sat outside and there were a lot of mosquitoes. I think they have a mosquito spray system to control them but maybe they haven’t been running it.

So, between being bitten by bugs and bad service (again) I would say we had another below average experience.
