Decided we needed home style cooking without the work :) so stopped by for Sunday lunch. The restaurant is located in the old part of downtown Bessemer in a corner building The building itself has been beautiful preserved to show the era of its time. The outside sign, lighting is nostalgic looking some. Inside the dining area is long with high ceilings that boast old milk glass lighting fixtures. There is entry of seating from regular size tables, high tables and 2 bar areas. We ordered take out, they have a good selection of menu items that change. Several meats, lots of veggies and 3 dessert choices. Meat and 2 plus bread is 8.99$ and the portions are generous. We tried fried chicken (was great! Reminded me of Sunday dinner at my Mama's), meatloaf, collards, dressing, pints and Mac and cheese. I loved the Mac and cheese! Desserts was banana pudding and peach cobbler. Must say the cobbler was my favorite of the two but both was great! The staff was friendly and it didn't take long to get our meals. If you want home cooking this is a good option! We stopped by here on Sunday for lunch, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! I would highly recommend this place for anybody looking for a home cooked meal! Try the mac and cheese, clearly home cooked! If you love soul food, this is a place to try!

Ok, I have know Chef May for a long time and I was so excited that she was back in action. I ordered the hamburger steak, yams, mac and cheese and collard greens. All I can say is WOW! Everything is done fresh on a daily basis. The hamburger steak was juicy and the gravy was seasoned to perfection. The collard greens were seasoned with smoked Turkey and it was awesome. The yams had the right consistently of sweetness and the mac and cheese was so cheesy. You might have to wait on the wings because they cook them to order. You must come and try this place out. It's across from Legion Field on Graymont Ave.
