Sumo Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar

Very sloppy. Rice haphazardly put on plates. Noodles thrown in top of rice, meat thrown in top of noodles and rice and then vegetables sl halfway thrown in plate. A very unappealing plate of flavorless food and Iop of that they charged a 20% service charge for 2 people.
Would never recommend this place.

I really don’t like to do this but here goes. My daughter has a severe shellfish allergy which I informed the cook before he started. He then proceeded to cook her steak at the same time as he was cooking the shrimp. I stopped him and reminded him of her allergy and he stated he wouldn’t touch her steak with the same cooking utensils. I told him that wasn’t good enough because if the butter he used to cook the shrimp seeped to her steak it would be catastrophic. (He literally had them next to each other.) He became argumentative with me that he’s been cooking a long time and refused to hear what I was saying and even began to elevate his voice to the point other patrons was watching. He then started telling me about his long day while speaking in a condescending manner. I refuse to be talked to like that by anyone. This was unacceptable. I am embarrassed to say the least

I am not sure what happened to Sumo but some time after the pandemic the quality went down hill. Service is mix depending on the waiter/host…the environment is gross at times, seen roaches in the lobby area which shocked me.
I can’t really recommend going to Sumo anymore

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant!!! The food is so fresh and flavorful, the environment is clean and peaceful, and the service was phenomenal! Particularly the service from Choi!! So friendly and joyful!

Used to be great. Tasteless food. Fishy shrimp. Vegetables under cooked. Took everything home to reprepare to hopefully taste like food. Oh and they add a service charge. Stay away. Oh and they add 18% service charge to the already 35 average cost. Not a tip just more charges. Salad and soup both not fit for consumption. Chef had no show. Waitress was sweet.

Food was very salty and burnt. Also we were severely rationed. Usually our portions are larger but lately they are giving less. This is the second time we have gone and received less and less food. For the $370 we paid this was definitely a sad experience. Our plate was only half full again. We will NOT be going back that was the second chance we gave them.

We came with our family, party of eight, to celebrate birthdays. Everything was great. Food was delicious and service was perfect. Our server brought her team out to sing happy birthday and she seemed so genuine in helping us celebrate. This restaurant really seems to go above and beyond to make a great experience.

It's my first time eating here my friend invited me to come out and I must say that everything was fantastic, fabulous and the staff was awesome I enjoyed the whole experience.

The level of customer service is very poor. The manager never visited the table when it had been requested because the chef literally just cooked and offered NO entertainment. The food was not seasoned. The restaurant needs a face lift. The decor is the original and very dated. The bathroom has a funny sewage smell. Very disappointing. But the same quality as in the past.

Seems like the place to go for birthdays. Every table there was celebrating. We just went for a fresh meal. I ordered the firecracker shrimp and it was cold when arrived. Other than that it is a typical hibachi experience.

I took my daughter last night for her birthday. I told them it was her birthday. The waitress was very dismissive… I was hoping that they would do the whole drumming and singing happy birthday but was disappointed. There were other people there that they did it for but I guess my waitress couldn’t be bothered…
