This place serves left overs, dry and bland. The chicken I had was smelly and every was heated up in microwave. Only thing good about here is that people are nice

From breakfast to dinner, the food is good down home cooking. Brings back memories of Sun dinner. Desserts are RIDICULOUS!!!

I went today to their new locations in crestwood and was again disappointed. I order the lasagna , dressing and fried corn. The lasagna had a sweet after taste. The dressing was stuffing with white gravy and it was horrible and the fried corn was okay. i was very disappointed and surprised. The quality of food was not the same as it was when they were in the palisades. I threw my food away and went to McDonald's. I will never return to this restaurant again.

The staff was so helpful and attentive, and the food was so good! Loved the fresh meatloaf, mashed potatoes and fried green tomatoes. Banana pudding was perfect. Very big portions and fast service. This is a black-owned business, which was great to support after spending a day at the civil rights museum in the city!

Food was mediocre. Priced exhorbitantly. 27.00 for a meat and 2 veggies for 2 people. No peasantry from staff.

I don't often write negative reviews on Yelp. I generally come here to tell people about the good experiences I've had eating in local restautants. This is going to be an exception. The restaurant, while appearing clean, smelled like they used the same mop water to mop the bathroom floor to mop the dining area. That was my first warning. I had the meatloaf, which, at first glance looked awesome. The server scooped two HUGE pieces of meat onto my plate, squinted one eye at it like she was measuring the portion in her mind, and scraped literally more than half of the portion she had put on the plate back into the steam well. Disappointing. I also opted for mashed potatoes and gravy, the gravy was obviously a turkey giblet gravy meant for the turkey and dressing, but the woman didn't ask when I said, "May I have gravy?" she just slopped a wet portion of turkey gravy over the relatively dry mashed potatoes (which was also sad... good grief, dry mash at a meat&three? Cream, butter, more cream. It's not hard. The cornbread I had was dry and crumbly, just not good. No flavor at all. The meat of the meatloaf itself was bland. Again, a lack of seasoning. None of the mirepoix (carrots, onions, celery) that separates a meat loaf from a lump of baked ground beef. My mother had the baked chicken and dressing. She ate most of her food but I could tell she wasn't really enjoying it. She also complained that the cornbread dressing was dry and crumbly with no flavor at all. Chicken stock, sage, sheesh, salt and pepper would be a huge help. The menu says they have chicken fingers. My son is too young to handle chicken on the bone, so when I was told that their "fingers" were actually wings, we settled for a cheeseburger that was definitely a frozen patty on a tiny Walmart brand bun, and it took them an extra 20 minutes to prepare it for him and it had a bit of an off smell (not a spoiled meat smell, just the smell of a freezer burger that's been in the freezer too long. In conclusion, I'm generally a s***** for a good meat&three, but if you're close to Apple Dumpling, I'm going to have to suggest you try The Paw Paw Patch just a block away on Green Springs. Sorry, Apple Dumpling. I will say this, the older woman running the kitchen was very friendly. Maybe some day her kindness will rub off on the server that slopped the food on our plates. Food just downright tastes better when employees care and aren't just standing around talking at 100% volume on their cell phone. Also, it's nasty to have a cell phone out while working a food line, gloves or not. You know what two things people touch the most in restrooms before washing their hands? Their cell phones and their belts.

The food here is delicious, and the employees are kind, compassionate and make it clear that it is their pleasure to take care of you. They feature daily specials, so there is always something new to try. My favorites, so far? Meatloaf, fried chicken, hamburger steak, green beans, cabbage, pinto beans, fried okra, butter beans, candied yams (hearty flavor, thanks to clove, maybe?), black-eyed peas, collards. The apple dumpling is huge. If you are a liver and onions fan, this is your place. Give them a try. You will be glad you did!
