Great place to catch up with old friends!

I went to The Margaret with a small group of friends on a Tuesday evening. Immediately when you walk in, it feels like you've stepped away from Alabama, which I love. It feels like an escape from the everyday. The couches, chandeliers, and funky chairs added to the overall ambiance. I didn't order any of their specialty cocktails, but several sounded delicious. I was just in a wine mood, and their selections were nice! I went for a pinot noir at $10/glass. We played one of the games they have available, but an important card component was missing, so we looked the missing cards up online. Overall, it was a very comfy, low key night downtown, and I'll definitely be back! I'm curious to see how it is on a weekend night!

SIPS ABOUT TO GO DOWN! Looking for a spot to have a quiet drink with some friends, on a weekday, the Margaret is the spot for you. Located in down town Birmingham, right up the street from some of the best restaurants in town. The Margaret is a New Orleans style/themed bar which has tons of character and charm. Apart from the wall decor, the chandeliers that align the ceilings are absolutely fabulous. This bar is such a vibe. As we are in the mists of Mardi Gras season, I am sure the people who celebrate this festive time of year will come here to party, drink and just be merry. But on a Tuesday night this was a very relaxing spot to grab a drink and just talk Since this was my first time here, I was unsure what to order. Unfortunately, I cannot have anything with grenadine in it as I will break out in hives and just be uncomfortable. So with that in mind, I ordered the Primm's cup which had primm's lemon juice, ginger ale, cucumber and mint in it. It was the perfect drink for the evening. The four star review derives from when I was asking about a second drink. Due to my allergy, i am limited when it comes to fruity drinks, though they are my favorite. I had asked the bartender what I could order that was fruity, and did not contain grenadine. She looked at me as though I had three heads. I guess she needed more information out of me then just that. But wasn't really helping me come up with any other ideas for drinks. At other bars I've been to and been in the same predicament they fire drink ideas at me and don't just look at me with a blank stare. Overall, The Margaret is a fun and festive spot to grab drinks. I highly suggest coming during the week to really get the real experience. Though I can also see this as a fun spot to grab a drink while waiting for a show, a night cap or bar hopping ventures. I'll be back for sure,

Last night was our second time at The Margaret. The place/décor/atmosphere are really unique and cool. But, we left without ordering after sitting at the bar for at least 15 minutes without the bartender ever even coming over to greet us much less take our order (she did wave slightly from the other end of the bar to say she'd be with us soon). There were maybe 10 people in the entire place. Extremely disappointing experience unfortunately.

Last Saturday was our first time at The Margaret. Had a blast! The entire atmosphere was perfect. Sat at the bar. The service was amazing and the drinks were delicious. Will be returning again and highly recommend. (Not sure if they serve food but also, we didn't ask for a food menu.)

We happened to be downtown for an event and decided to stop for a cocktail before we left the area. A quick Google search brought up The Margaret. It was close by, and we had never been, so we decided to stop it. The first thing I noticed was the number of chandeliers. It definitely added to the ambiance. Also, the alligator made out of spare items on the back wall was interesting. Think paint brushes, hinges, etc.My favorite was the backroom. It reminded us of the old Blue Monkey cocktail bar that used to be on Cobb Lane. It was nice and quiet, which is what we were looking for. We noticed the number of skeletons hanging around. Kind of gave it a creepy vibe. Left over from Halloween, or just because? I would love to hear the back story.Great place. I would love to visit again. The bartender made great drinks. My favorite was The Hurricane.
