The Melting Pot

Took my daughter for her birthday. Service was not great. Food was blah. Dessert and apps are the best part. Way too expensive for the quality.

The Melting Pot is really all about the slow pace and the quiet atmosphere (at least compared to other restaurants). It's a bit pricey for a random date night, but a decent place to have a meal that can involve real conversation. The Melting Pot is a fondue restaurant and the food here is just "okay." I'm not a professional critic, but I'm a decent enough cook to know that boiling is not the preferred method for cooking... just about anything. The opening cheese fondue was decent, and the closing chocolate course was cloying, but not without it's pleasures. Nothing in between those two, however, was worth the price of this restaurant. Over-seasoned meat boiled in a wine broth for a few minutes is not fine cuisine. The service here seemed fine at first, but, near the end of the main course, our waitress started disappearing for ridiculous lengths of time. They say the meal takes about an hour and a half, which is almost exactly when we could have been done, but we were there about 2:15 because of the inattentive waitress. We were there early in the evening on a day when it was not at all busy, so this shouldn't have been a problem. Overall, the Melting Pot will never be my first choice of a place to spend $120 on a date night for two, but it's a unique experience and maybe worth trying... once.

Great food. We eat here yearly for my parent's anniversary and my dad's birthday. We've always had a good experience. The meats and fruits taste so fresh and the staff has always been very professional and friendly. Rachel was our server during our most recent visit and she was fantastic. Highly recommended location.
