“We have been here several times and it is one of the better restaurant options available here in Brewton, AL. We drove up from Pensacola to go hunting with H.S.'s family for the weekend. The food here at El Ray turned out to be better than the hunting this weekend. It's called "hunting for a reason" as the old worn out saying goes... We joined H.S.'s brother's family who were already seated and eating their chips, salsa and queso. We got another order of queso and dove in. The service was great, even on this Friday night, but it also wasn't too busy. It was storming and that may have kept the crowd down a bit. The salsa, chips and queso were delicious. The queso being the classic queso blanco and the salsa also was the classic red salsa. Both are very typical for us here in the deep South. I ordered the Burrito Supreme with beef and H.S. ordered the California Burrito with shrimp. She routinely out orders me and she did so again. Mine was really good. Hers was great! I wasn't thinking when I ordered the beef. I was thinking it would be steak (I know better) and it was ground taco meat. I was just trying to hurry. Hers with the shrimp and all the light fillings was more what I was looking for. It is probably hard to imagine for a lot of you that a burrito can be light but it can be done. Tacos El Fluffy in Pensacola sure does! Down the table from me my brother and sister in-law shared the Molcajete which looks like a hot mess but they love it. It is basically a giant bowl full of steak and chicken strips, shrimp, chorizo, frijoles charros, onions, cactus, and Mexican cheese. It is then served with tortillas. Think fajitas on steroids. El Ray is a good option in Brewton for a good meal. It is a bit of a surprise that such a good mexican restaurant exists here but there it sits. There have been some significant changes to the menu as they learned the tastes of small town America. Not surprising is the absence of menudo soup (tastes and smells like a barnyard that needs to be shoveled) and ceviche from the menu now. I am not saddened by the loss of the menudo. -B-“

“Come as you are live music bar. Great band playing when I was there. Chill atmosphere. Relaxed and fun! Televisions visible from anywhere inside for great game viewing. There is room to dance, play pool, watch TV or just enjoy the people. Nice front porch with seating and an outdoor band stage.“
