Johnny’s BBQ takeout is a game-changer! We ordered pulled pork stuffed baked potatoes, pulled pork sandwiches, and mac and cheese—and let me tell you, it was nothing short of BBQ heaven right in our own home.
The pulled pork was next-level amazing—perfectly smoked, tender, and bursting with flavor. The stuffed baked potatoes were loaded with pulled pork, creamy butter, sour cream, and cheese, creating the most indulgent, satisfying meal ever. Each bite was a perfect blend of smoky, creamy, and savory deliciousness. The pulled pork sandwiches were just as incredible, piled high with juicy pork on soft buns that soaked up all the rich BBQ sauce.
And the mac and cheese? Chef’s kiss! It was creamy, cheesy, and so comforting that we couldn’t get enough. Johnny’s absolutely nails it when it comes to BBQ and sides that leave you dreaming of the next meal.
The takeout experience was flawless—everything was packaged perfectly, stayed fresh, and still tasted like it had just come off the smoker. If you haven’t tried Johnny’s BBQ yet, you are seriously missing out. This is 5 stars and then some! We’ll be ordering again ASAP!

I was craving bbq and on our way home from Florida and seen a sign on the interstate. Lady at the front was really nice that took our order. Food was great!! We got bbq sandwiche plates and it came with 3 sides. Fries were basic crinkle fries, baked beans are different than Ky but they’re very good and flavorful!! My boys got the slaw, man and cheese and I got sweet potato casserole, all delicious ? I got hot bbq sauce and it has a KICK which I appreciate bc I love spicy. Everything tastes homemade and was worth the stop.
Food was priced too high. Then, they also charge you extra for using a credit/debit card.
Parking: At the time of day we ate, you wouldn't expect there to be a problem to park. We ate around 5:00 p.m.

Johnny's Bar B Q is definitely our favorite BBQ in Cullman Alabama. We have been a customer for over 40 years. This restaurant has been in business for 75 years and research shows that the average restaurant only survives 8-10 years. They have to be smoking some great barbecue to be doing a great business for that long. Our favorite items are the BBQ potato in both chicken and pork. They are huge and delicious. Their whole and fillet catfish is absolutely the best in Cullman. We also enjoy their BBQ plates. The ladies that work thre have been with Johnny's for many years and do a fantastic job. They do take credit cards however there is a slight fee applied. Definitely a great local place to try.
This place is great. We’ve been stopping here for years going back and forth from Kentucky to Florida. It’s all soooo good… pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans, smoked chicken, and awesome hush puppies. You really can’t go wrong here and the service is 10 out of 10. I’d love to take this place with me wherever I go. It’s nice to know it’s been around a long time and hopefully will be for a lot longer.

They don't serve brisket.
Realistically you got 4 options.
- Chicken
- Pork
- Ribs
- Catfish
A long time staple at Johnny's is the barbecue pork potato ($10.95 - If I remember correctly)
One thing to note is that the items are minimally sauced / seasoned when they come out of the kitchen.
(Got to make everybody happy I guess)
So be sure to add your desired amount of sauce to your meal before digging in!
