Dockside Seafood Restaurant Reviews
We ordered four entrees, three were good but one (sushi) was like plastic/rubber. My wife and I received our meals first, our two kids received theirs about fifteen minutes later. When people order together they expect to be served together. The portions were large and the presentation was very nice. You go to the counter to order and get your own drinks. The serving process needs some work.
This is always our first stop upon arriving on the island. As soon as we come across the bridge, we head for a shrimp po'boy with a view! The food is always awesome, the beer cold, and the service friendly.
My wife and I ate dinner at Dockside Seafood tonight, and both the fried and blackened shrimp baskets were terrific. To our surprise, we didn't realize that Candy was the owner, but we had a blast catching up after dinner.

Dockside Seafood Restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating options, including picnic tables on the dock. This locally owned business is known for its friendly and expedient service, serving delicious food, particularly the 1lb royal reds shrimp, which many guests recommend. It is a family-friendly spot with a separate 21+ bar area upstairs. Visitors should be aware that the seafood is very good, and the restaurant often closes early in the evening, so arriving earlier is advised. While Dockside does not serve alcohol, nearby Pelican Pub upstairs provides a full bar with drinks that can be enjoyed in the restaurant or taken upstairs.
Many reviews mention the outdoor dining option, as it can get very hot inside. The dock offers a lovely setting for enjoying a sunset, and the seafood, including mahi mahi, shrimp, and fish, is freshly caught and flavorful. The menu is simple but satisfying, featuring options like the fish basket, shrimp tacos, and jambalaya special. Portions are generous, with the French fries and hushpuppies receiving high praise. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and offers tasty food prepared quickly, making it a popular choice among visitors.
While some guests noted that refills require showing a receipt, which felt unusual, the water view and outdoor tables create a pleasant dining experience. The restaurant may not be the prettiest on the island, but the friendly staff, including the nice owners, contribute to a down-home feel. Dockside Seafood Restaurant is a great choice for fresh seafood and a memorable meal, especially for those visiting Dauphin Island. It is currently closed on Sundays and Thursdays, so checking their Facebook page for hours is recommended.
