Great atmosphere with nice people (including the owners and patrons), and delicious food.

I had Bisque, Philly cheese steak, with fries and gravy. (And of course a couple Bloody Marys 😉)
Bisque was delicious. As good as any you’ll find at the coast . #RoostersNutz said she wanted a gallon to take home!

The gravy was good enough to drink.

Philly was tender, and dipped in the gravy was the da bomb.

#RoostersNutz had wings with loaded fries. Also delicious. Wings were hot and crispy like fried chicken with the sauce on the side as a dip.

Will definitely return!

“I went with my friend who was bragging about the fish sandwich from here so of course when i get into town, we run down and omg........it was hot and fried so good you can eat the bones. lawwwddddd i should have gotten more before i left but i will be back. “My friends and I have been coming to this bar for many years. It's a small bar with an upstairs sitting area as well as a small outdoor area. I've seen a couple of bands here. This is our favorite place to play darts. Great location in Lakeview district. My favorite bar in birmingham!“

“This was our last stop of the night and I'm extremely happy we ended up going, instead of saving it for a different girls' night! They had great appetizer and drink options. The service was great, but there ended up being several different servers and it caused some mix up with our bill. But disregarding that little inconvenience the atmosphere, drinks, food, and decor were all GREAT! Make sure you try the Jello shots with pop-rocks“

“We arrived late and had a few drinks but I loved this spot. Not too big of a space, but it was very intimate, and the live music was everything. The singer and band on stage were very talented and did an excellent job on their cover of some classics. Will definitely visit again.“

“Our favorite new bar in Bham. Fantastic views of the city. Great atmosphere, service was about what you would expect for a crowded bar on a Saturday evening/night. Not terrible, but had to wait a few minutes for drinks, but again, should be expected for a crowded bar.“

“JT’s is fairly basic as far as hotel bars go, though I’d think the renaissance would hold a higher standard. The food was excellent; fresh and delicious, just limited in variety. The drink menu was elevated but felt extremely short for a cocktail lounge. The staff did a great job, but were clearly struggling to keep up with the crowd.

Vegetarian options: Limited standard menu, so veg options are extremely limited.“

“Honestly? The breakfast is lacking and The Original Pancake House down the street tried to kill me. But the neighborhood has has real, pulsing history. There are enough restaurants within two city blocks to keep either the pickiest eater or the worldliest gourmand satisfied for at least a month. Seriously - get over to the ramen place and Insomnia Cookies (on, maybe, 11th? All the streets are numbers...). The staff has actual warmth and customer service demeanor. The room is charming.

The main demerit I will give it is that the fridge had been turned off or all the way down - I put some potato pancakes in and the fridge had an odor when I came back - then I had to clean it out well because even after turning it on and removing the offending food from the room, the odor lingered (the sour cream had turned quickly). And it was hard to close the fridge or its cabinet because of some peeling paint or shelf paper under the front of the fridge. Then, the shower took a bit of time to turn on or off all the way, and the body wash holster on the wall was broken, causing the dispenser itself to fall out and break when I tried to pump the soap the first night. I swapped it for the one on the counter to have a usable one in the shower, but that meant using a broken off handle to pump hand soap (I was only there a couple nights so didn't get chance to have them swap out the pump - FYI if the hotel reads this it is room 509; please check the wall clip on the body wash).

But these are really nits. The room (suite - an upgrade, which is a status perk) was very nice, with a clear separation between bedroom and sitting area that let me work while my husband rested, which I recommend. The small footprint of each floor also meant not as far to walk to our room!“
