I’ve been frequenting Frothy Monkey locations for years, and it’s always solid. But this morning was different.
Whoever prepared my breakfast didn’t just cook it — they crafted it. The attention to detail was noticeable from the first bite. The omelet wasn’t just good… it was art. You could tell this wasn’t just a job for whomever prepared it.
It was so impressive I had to ask who made it. Jordan is the young man responsible, and when I told him how great it was, you could see he genuinely cared and was honored someone noticed.
If you go, get the omelet — and ask if Jordan can make it.
Jordan is a soon-to-be culinary rockstar.

Parking directly in front (along the street) was available when we arrived at 9 on Sunday morning. Seated immediately. Coffee and breakfast were delicious.
The interior is clean with a quirky, extremely pleasant atmosphere. Great place to meet a friend to catch up.

Truly abysmal service. We waited ~15 min to order and had to flag someone down; we watched our hot coffee drink drinks sit on the counter and get cold while we finished our food and staff stood around. Couldn't get someone to take a credit card so we could pay and leave. Staff were also unfriendly.
Food is hit and miss. The Cali toast had good veggies and yummy tomatoes, but a really sad skimpy layer of avocado, and it didn't seem like the sourdough was toasted. Vibe is cool but overall really disappointing experience.

Very poor service. Staff were not that busy. Hot drinks were just warm and came out after our food. My wife tried to get our drinks from the counter because we saw them sitting there so long. Food and atmosphere were fine. We just left cash for our bill and tip on the table because we were tired of waiting for them to pick up the check

Showed up here on a Friday night, just before close about 7:50. Their hours say they close at 8, so that means you should be able to order anything on the menu till 8, correct. WRONG!!! While my wife was standing in line, waiting to place her order behind someone else, the girl with a yellow hat was apparently shutting down the coffee machine. My wife places her order at the register, before 8, and that's when the yellow hat girl informs the girl at the register that she just shut the machine down. If your hours are till a set time then why are you shutting down before then? Maybe you should change your business strategy to we lock our doors at 8 but stop serving customers at 7:50. Also, maybe you should train your employees not to talk about customers within earshot either. For a business who turns away customers, no matter what time they walk through the door, doesn't deserve to stay in business for long.

We had a very disappointing experience due to an undercover manager named Kaisa, who appeared to be on a power trip rather than focused on customer service. We were dining as a family with two small children and were initially directed to the very back of the restaurant. We politely explained that we preferred to sit at the front tables, where there were outlets, merchandise, and visibility so that the friends who were meeting us could easily find us. This wasn’t a demand — we clearly expressed our preference and directly asked if we could sit there instead. Kaisa’s response was abrupt and dismissive. She flat-out said “no,” with no explanation, no attempt at compromise, and no consideration for our situation as a family with young children. There was no effort to be accommodating or even courteous — just an unnecessary show of authority. The interaction felt less about restaurant flow and more about control. Good management is about flexibility, communication, and hospitality, especially when the request is reasonable and the tone is respectful. Unfortunately, this experience lacked all of that. We just left, and the business lost out on our money and our respect.

We came in on a morning right as they opened and sat down. Service was good and the coffee was ok. But the food was not good to say the least. I got the vanilla cinnamon french toast and the apples that came on top were ICE COLD. I am not sure what else they put on it but it was pretty terrible. My wife got the bagel sandwich which was actually very good. All to say just make sure you have actual hot food and I would not recommend coming in during open, the atmosphere is not the best.

Since I moved back to AL in March, three of us have been meeting for breakfast every Saturday morning around 10, alternating between Forest Park, Mountain Brook, Homewood, and Vestavia. The menu selections at Frothy Monkey are varied and every meal I’ve had was prepared to my liking and delicious. They are invariably super busy, and I expect to wait for a table and anticipate service may not be quick. Servers are always pleasant and apologetic when that is the case. I’ve only one complaint, and it has remained constant since my first visit. The coffee is warm. Not hot. Not even close to hot. At our most recent visit, I ordered a latte and I specifically let our server know I’d never gotten hot coffee in previous visits. She apologized very sincerely and said she would be sure it was hot when delivered to our table. Having waited right near the front desk, I watched the Barista make the signature coffees. What I witnessed was that a server gave her an order and she made each in the order it was given to her, and placed the cup on the counter, where it awaited pickup as the server was available while attending their other tables. I watched mine being made (with milk/cream right out of the fridge) and saw it sit (with 4-5 others) for more than 5+ minutes until our server had an opportunity to pick it up and bring it to our table, after my meal was served. It was tepid. Both all the servers and the Barista were hustling as fast as they could, but it just seemed as if they were spread too thin for a Saturday brunch service. Next time (and I will certainly continue to patronize the restaurant), I’ll just bring my thermal cup with my own coffee.
