Really tasty sandwiches at the deli, delicious sweet treats, and really pleasant ladies to help you get what you need! Has a classic diner feel to it as well. Lovely spot!

Great treats... cheese pockets and cherry danish are amazing. I do wish they could do something about the lack of parking. Ive been by three times only to drive away since there were no parking places anywhere close.

I recently placed my first order with Savages Bakery, and unfortunately, it will be my last. When I ordered a cake over the phone, they asked for a description and a picture of what I wanted, which I provided. The cake I received looked somewhat different than what was described, but I’m not usually one to make a fuss, so I planned to just take it home.

On the way up to my apartment, however, the box they gave me broke, smearing the writing on the cake. I called back right away, and the woman who answered was very understanding — she told me to come back so they could fix it. Since the cake already didn’t fully match my description, I also asked if those issues could be corrected while they were re-icing it.

Unfortunately, while she tried to help me, the baker in the background was on speakerphone being extremely rude. He loudly said it was “my damn fault” that the cake was damaged and that he shouldn’t have to fix it. He cursed at me, offered no solutions, and made it clear he didn’t want to help. By the end of the call, I felt so disrespected that I told them to keep both the cake and my money.

For reference, this was a $120 cake — extremely overpriced for what it was — and the customer service experience was beyond unprofessional.

I hope the next customer who has an issue is treated with more kindness and respect 💛

These are the best cakes on the planet. We drove 150 miles to get one. All of their pastries are melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is a longtime Homewood staple. Traditional cakes and cookies and just about the best place in town for birthday cakes. Their traditional petit fours are the best in town. Great staff.

What a cute bakery Savage’s Bakery is. I’m kinda sad I only got one picture inside but it was on Father’s Day weekend, hence, the ‘Dad’ cookies and such. I ended up trying two cookies when I visited, those being a chocolate chip cookie and a sugar cookie. I loved both cookies! It was definitely worth it and I like to support local businesses!

The reviews are right - the cake decorator here SUCKS.

I came in on a Friday to order a gender reveal cake to be picked up the next day. I requested a plain white exterior with the inside filling matching the gender written on the card I provided. I made it clear that the cake was meant for me. The lady who took my order handled it well—she took the card to the back, opened it there so I wouldn’t see the gender, and handed it back to me.

However, when I came to pick up the cake the next day, I was absolutely stunned and disappointed. There were green leaf accents on the cake, but most shocking of all—there was PINK frosting on top of the cake!!!!! The entire purpose of a gender reveal cake is the surprise, and it was completely ruined before I even left the bakery. How could such an obvious mistake happen?

What makes this even more frustrating is that the front staff KNEW this cake was meant to be a surprise. They asked if it was my first baby and even encouraged me to guess what I thought the gender might be. Yet somehow, the decorator completely ignored the instructions and put the gender color on full display for everyone to see.

I didn’t say anything to the staff because I know the decorator made the mistake, but I was deeply disappointed. I cried in my car. I had to take the cake home and carefully scrape off all the pink frosting before cutting it with my fiancé and his parents the next day.

While the front staff was friendly, they failed to communicate to the decorator that the cake was supposed to remain a surprise. Ruining my first pregnancy surprise was bad enough, but considering the price I paid for this cake, I am extremely disappointed with Savage’s…

My mother ordered a quarter sheet for my bridal shower this weekend. She ordered a white cake with a few succulents and a monogram. When going to pick up the cake she found herself running close to the store's closing, so she called the store to let them know at around 3:50, and her calls were ignored despite the store being open. Arrives at exactly 4:00 and every employee stares her in the face and refuse to let her in or help her, after ignoring her calls attempting to prevent this BEFORE the store closed. Not off to a great start. Then we finally get the cake to discover it looks nothing like what was requested. Not a single drop of white, kind of looks like a halloween party threw up on it. I am a cake decorator and I am 100% confident the decorator did not feel like changing their halloween and fall colored icing bags to appropriate colors. Covered in dark oranges, grays, a purple so dark it is almost black. To be honest it looks like it was a different cake order that got scraped (badly) and repurposed, as there is for some reason pink smeared on the sides. It is very elaborately decorated and I appreciate the time that I know was put into it but it is simply not what we asked for AT ALL. It is pretty much the exact opposite of what we asked for and the only thing correct about it was the cake on the inside. We still ended up eating the cake and things worked out okay for us, but this is not at all acceptable service. As cake decorators it is our job to give a customer what they order, not whatever you feel like doing (or whatever you DON'T feel like doing, in this case) instead. Extremely disappointing after already experiencing the employees treat my mother as an inconvenience. I have been wanting to try Savages cakes for a long time being in this trade myself and having heard great things- unfortunately I saw none of them. Would not recommend to ANYONE, unless they feel like putting themselves at the complete liberty of rude employees and lazy decorators.

I have ordered cakes from Savages several times and the results of the cakes have been hit and miss, more miss than hit frankly. This last time I ordered a birthday cake for my husband's birthday party, I asked for carrot cake. The cake I picked up was tiny and it was most definitely stale. And despite the fact that I specifically ordered a cake for a birthday, it had absolutely no decorations - no rosettes, no flourishes, no piping - nothing. It had a very thin, smooth buttercream frosting and the words Happy Birthday in yellow. (yellow?!). I was absolutely embarrased to present this cake at his birthday and it became the joke of the party. Even worse than the cake was the service. I stood there for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged me, and there were only two other customers in the shop so it's not like they were slammed with business. While the cakes have been good some times and bad some times, the service here has always been a bad experience for my family. Never again.

Yummy, but slooooooow, usually unfriendly "service". The only reason I gave two stars for service was because of the delightful Sarah Grace, who works behind the counter sometimes, but I understand she is only temporary and is leaving soon.
