Service is great, but food is not so great.
Emily was such a super waitress, good service, polite but so funny. A great addition to this restaurant!!
Fried shrimp and fried green tomatoes were excellent. Our server, Emily, was great, and she even made us her delicious homemade sauce!
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but you haven’t lived until you’ve had crawfish at Cajun Steamer served by Emily. This woman didn’t just wait on us — she curated a full-on seafood experience with the energy of a Southern fairy godmother and the precision of a crab-leg-cracking samurai.
The food? Slapped. The crawfish? Spiritual. The crab legs? Life-altering. But the real star of the show? EMILY’S HOMEMADE SAUCE.
Yes, you read that right. Emily rolled up to our table and casually dropped that she made a special sauce herself — a top-secret recipe her dad taught her in Louisiana. I blacked out for a second after tasting it. I think I saw a vision of her father handing it down like it was the Cajun Holy Grail. One bite and I was like, “Emily, do you cater weddings? Funerals? Emotional breakdowns?”
She had us laughing, crying (from spice and joy), and seriously considering giving her power of attorney.
This woman doesn’t work at Cajun Steamer. She runs it spiritually. Emily, if you’re reading this: thank you for the sauce, the service, and for giving our whole table a main character moment.
Final verdict: put Emily on the state flag and serve that sauce in holy communion. I would fight a gator for a refill.
We stopped in for a girls' day out and had Emily as our server—she was awesome! Super friendly, easygoing, and just had a great vibe. She made us feel right at home and was on top of everything without being too much. Gave us some solid food and drink recs (which were all 🔥), and just added to the fun, laid-back feel of the day. Honestly, she made the whole experience even better. If you're heading in with friends, definitely hope you get Emily!
Food was great, music was great, and our waitress was amazing! Emily was hilarious and very easy to get along with. 10/10!
The food was amazing, and the atmosphere was so welcoming. Our waitress, Emily was super helpful and kind.
My husband and I had dinner there last night. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer. They were good, not great.
I ordered shrimp and grits, the worst I've ever had. The shrimp were tiny and bland, grits were a blob of mush, and surrounded by a tasteless oily moat. I gave my husband the shrimp, and left the rest on my plate.
The staff was very friendly and attentive, but I still would never return.
Everything was amazing I had tuna dip oysters and catfish a were amazing
My wife and I have been going here for 3 yrs since we moved to HSV. It was a staple place for us. Nice place for drinks and food (Melvin chicken dish is awesome) We absolutely loved the gumbo but we went there on New Year’s Eve for gumbo and we could tell something was different. We both looked at each other because we could see it was a much lighter color than normal. We ordered the chicken and sausage version. Almost no meat whatsoever. It used to be very generous and very filling. This new version almost seemed like it poured out of a can it went from some of the best gumbo ever to some of the worst I’ve ever tried. Needless to say we won’t be going back. I’m not sure why they changed their recipe but they just lost two customers because of it.

This USED to be our go to place we always took out of town guests. We had never had a poor meal here and raved about it, until today.
I understand the restaurant is under new ownership and management.
We took our guest here for a late lunch and the gator bites for $18.99. It was such a small portion compared to our past orders that I questioned the manager if it was the happy hour portion. He assured me that each order is 8 oz and that this was the regular order. If you look at the picture they advertise, we received a third of that amount! NO WAY is it worth $19!
I ordered my usual, Melvin chicken. The portions were half of prior servings and it was COLD. At least they gave you a lot of mash potatoes to make it look like a large serving.
All in all our favorite restaurant went from a hero to a zero.
And the prices are out of line for what you get. Our bill was over $70 for three people. One soda, gator bites and three meals, shrimp, burger, chicken.
We won't be back

The food was great! I had the gumbo and i tore it up, I also really like this seafood dip. However, despite my understanding that this is a creole restaurant, the dip is kinda overly spicy. Good service too, and sports on the TV. Go Florida State.

Redfish/Catfish/Red beans and rice/Cheesecake, everything was delicious, service was fast and friendly, which was surprising because they were pretty crowded but I was extremely pleased!!!

This would be a great place for a Cajun restaurant! Management is bad joke! I recommend nothing at this location except to find a better place to eat and drink.
