Char Restaurant

Awesome experience! Evan was a great waiter that redeemed my hope in getting an amazing steak before leaving Huntsville AL. It was delicious! My wife's food was awesome as well. Dessert was over the top! This is the place to be!

The dinner (as always) was excellent; burger, wedge, gumbo—everyone's dish was yummy. The server, Dani was informative and efficient. The drinks were the best and crafted to perfection. For the perfect week night to a special occasion, it is hard to beat Char.

Food was really good and service was great. Would just like to see a change to the menu. The menu hasn't changed in several years. It's really loud in the dining room and very difficult to hold a conversation.

Food, value, was good. Entrees took a very long time to come out. We were provided an explanation as to why but it didn't make sense - folks who sat down long after us got their meals before us. Seemed our staff knew something got screwed up. Looked like we were the anomaly so perhaps we were the exception. I'd go again but not for a while.

Was not our normal service for sure. Seemed to be a former employee near us in a booth as we were at a table-great to see the visit for that employee but our service did not even seem to care we were there. We asked for boxes and normally a Char server will take your food and baox and bag. Our server left us boxes and a bag and went back over to talk to the former employee. We love Char and always have. This was not what we expected for a Birthday Celebration for my wife. Also, I am usually a 30+% tip person. Sorry service was not good and tip reflected it.

Service was fabulous; however, the steaks that 2 of us ordered were overcooked. They were supposed to be medium but were closer to well done. That said they tasted great so we did not send them back. Also the baked potatoes we received were not hot the the center. I love this restaurant but was disappointed with my meal this time. The other 2 members of our party received perfectly prepared steaks.

We had a business lunch reserved for 6 at 1:00. 2 people had to cancel and 1 was an hour late so we did not even order until after 2pm. The staff was very accommodating and did not rush us at all or push us to order drinks and appetizers. I felt bad to take up a table for so long but they acted like it was no problem at all. Most restaurants would not be so hospitable in this situation. Well done Char!

We had the best server! She was attentive, a good conversationalist, had a good sense of humor. Food was great. My husband and I shared a Black and Bleu Salad and crab cakes. It was delicious!

Great food, great service. We were seated immediately upon arriving for our reservation, greeted promptly and received our cocktails quickly. Courses came out perfectly timed despite ordering things together. The live piano music created a lovely ambiance and the food, as always was cooked perfectly.

We waited way too long for our food. The tables around us came in after us and we done eating and gone before us. The steak was a little under cooked and wasn't the ribeye I ordered. We have been here many times. This was the only bad experience we've had.

The best steak ever ordered! I got medium well 16oz ribeye and husband got 20oz cowboy cut ribeye (medium). His exact words "it was perfect". The sides were to share, we ordered asparagus, and caramelized onion Mac and cheese, Best sides I've ever had. The service was polite and on time. The atmosphere is black tie, but we wore casual as was half the other guest. Highly recommend.

Great service but my Wife''s steak was tough as shoe leather.It was cooked medium so that was not the issue,Just a poor piece of meat.Other than that,the service was awesome.

This is our favorite restaurant. The service is excellent, the food is excellent and the overall experience is the best! We had Chris last night and he was so attentive. The food was cooked perfect as always. Michael, the manager is awesome. My family loves to get together here.

Service was abysmal...servers (all of them) kept walking past our table, ignoring gestures to tell OUR server to cease the Missing In Action gig. There are plenty of good restaurants in the Huntsville area with great food AND service. CHAR doesn't make the cut - we won't be back, and if you value good service, you won't be either.

We ate here for lunch and were very impressed! I had the beefeater sandwich, which was stacked with tender shaved beef and sharp cheddar cheese. My friend had the house burger and she said it was delicious. Prices were reasonable, and portions were huge. UPDATE: I just enjoyed the ribeye and loaded baked potato for dinner. Delicious! Best ribeye in North Alabama; and yes, better than Ruth's Chris.
