About Southern Oak
Southern Oak Reviews
Great hospitality with staff going above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable! Access to pickleball and tennis courts, nice large rooms, and a lovely spa and fitness area, not to mention easy access to the beautiful and challenging Grand National golf course.
What a wonderful resort! Well kept secret!
I don’t recommend making plans to stay here. I was planning to stay here for an event with my children, but when the event was cancelled, they refused to give me a refund. When I made the reservation, it defaulted to a no refundable room and that’s not the option I had originally chosen. No one had been helpful regarding this and it’s a disappointment. I don’t think I will use or recommend a Marriott again.

Southern Oak is a restaurant that offers an enjoyable dining experience. The food is described as amazing, with a fresh and hot buffet that caters to various dietary preferences, including vegetarian options. The attentive service and gorgeous atmosphere, including Christmas decorations, contribute to a pleasant ambiance. The restaurant is situated inside a resort hotel, which features large rooms, a spa, fitness area, and access to pickleball and tennis courts. It is recommended for those in the area looking for a quality meal and relaxing environment.
Recent reviews highlight the good breakfast served in a wood-lined room, with options like oatmeal with berries, milk, granola, and raisins, as well as egg white omelettes with requested turkey sausage. The restaurant offers a variety of locally sourced foods, including a standout honeycomb that drips fresh honey into a dish for guests to scoop. The make-your-own stations for hash browns, eggs, or grits add to the meal's appeal.
The atmosphere includes beautiful views of the courtyard, though the small space can lead to some logistical challenges, such as dishes arriving separately and limited table space. The menu emphasizes allergy-awareness, with gluten-free options available upon request, though staff recommend asking about specific needs. The focus on fresh, local ingredients is appreciated, and the overall experience is pleasant despite some minor inconveniences, like navigating to the restaurant and parking considerations.
Prices are on the higher side, with a fee of $30 per person, which some guests found steep. The restaurant aims to provide a welcoming environment with attentive staff going above and beyond to make guests’ stays enjoyable.
