“La Libertad is an absolute gem. The food is spectacularly good—authentic, flavorful, and genuinely tastes like something that was home-cooked with care.

Everything I've had here has been delicious, from the rice to the pupusas. The pupusas especially are fantastic, but honestly, even the sides stand out. It's just really, really good food.

The place is usually busy, and every time I've been here the parking lot has been pretty full, which tells you something. For a restaurant in a smaller Alabama town, this place is an incredible find and absolutely worth stopping for.

If you love authentic Salvadoran food—or just great food in general—La Libreta is definitely worth a visit.“

“Interesting set-up inside the gas station: you order, get a check, walk over to the gas station cashier pay, and walk back to the counter (la mayoría habla inglés y español).The must have opened recently since the curtido - a slightly fermented cabbage salad - was still crunchy and the whiteboard displaying the menu was lacking prices.I still ask you to support this place. We need more pupusas in Birmingham!“
