“Drove by a couple days ago and stopped in. The place is very casual and very friendly. The catfish platter was very good: fried catfish, onion rings, hush puppies, and slaw. The slaw was different from what I've ever had and not to my taste, but everything else was very good.OTOH, my cardiologist may not have approved of all the fried food.Looking at the pics I wish I'd had the pecan pie.”

“This is a very good place to eat, relax, and enjoy great sushi. I got the lunch special for $13 and asked for it to substitute something else for the one shrimp and crab roll due to my allergies. They said it was no problem but still accidentally gave me one crab roll by mistake. But everything else besides that one slip was wonderful and delicious.”

“I work in Decatur on a sort of seasonal basis and recently had my last visit out to the area for what will likely be a while. I wanted to go out in style, so I decided to go to this little ice cream parlor for a treat to sort of say goodbye.The shop is small and shares some open space with a next door gift shop type space. It's cute and welcoming inside, with a lot of homages to dogs. I'm guessing Tess is the Frenchie, but regardless...the Frenchie stuff is extra cute. :)They have about 10-15 different ice cream flavors and some neat sounding soda mixers. So think of your favorite soda (Sprite, Dr. Pepper, Coke, etc.) and then add some flavors like raspberry, vanilla, pineapple, peach, etc. They have some existing winning combinations or you can create your own from a list of flavors!I got a single scoop of the "Better Brownie Batter" and also opted to try a lemonade with pineapple and peach flavors added in. I wasn't sure about those two flavors together (I love them both independently but wasn't sure they'd mix well) and the friendly employee very kindly offered to remake my drink for free if I wasn't satisfied with my creation. So nice!I don't remember the exact cost but I remember thinking it was reasonable. I took my treats outside and sat on one of the metal picnic tables to enjoy the blustery, sunshiney day.No need to remake my lemonade; the flavors definitely worked and I quite enjoyed them. You could taste both the pineapple and the peach! The lemonade is sparkling; I liked the fizz but just an FYI.The ice cream was delicious! I thought I saw it was Hershey's brand ice cream but I'm not sure. It really was better brownie batter. The body of the ice cream was super smooth and creamy, the brownie chunks were huge and tasted exactly like brownie batter, and the serving was super generous for just a single scoop!After looking around their social media, it looks like they often do fun offers like an ice cream advent calendar with all their flavors. How cute!My only regret is not stopping by earlier in the season so I could have multiple visits. Hope to see y'all again next time I'm in Decatur!”

“Best Brewery in Decatur Alabama…but don’t take my word for it: stop by to try 13th best brewery within 25 miles, and the 50th best in the state. “What a lovely little spot! I mapped myself over to grab a drink for the road a couple of weeks ago. This coffee shop seems pretty out-of-the-way (to me at least -- but I'm not a local so maybe I'm missing something), to the point where I thought maybe my GPS was wrong. But it wasn't, so if you check this place out, have faith in Google maps! Lol. The signage is a little small but I promise it's there! It's near Austin High School and behind a small gas station/mini-mart.There's a spacious parking lot out front and a small patio for nicer days than the day I visited. It was super quiet and cozy inside, and it smelled great! I saw one person working on his laptop, and I'd definitely agree that this is a great place to hunker down and focus. It's mostly a table and chair setup but there's a couch too, iirc.Service was a highlight -- the barista was super kind and bubbly and eager to help with all my questions. She listened to what I liked and provided several excellent recommendations. I can't remember the exact name of the drink I got because I delayed too long between visiting and writing this review, but it was a specialty mocha of some sort, either the Smithy Special or the Beam Bonfire. I'd guess the Smithy Station as I'm not usually super into marshmallow stuff. Whatever I had, it was sweet, smooth, creamy, beautiful, and an appropriate size for the fairly low price. I'd get it again!They have small, typical coffeeshop snacks (think pastries, etc) and change up specials depending on the time of year. I'm in Decatur somewhat often for work, especially during the winter months, and this may be one of my new preferred coffee shops. Thanks for a nice first visit!”

“Tried it for the first time and glad we finally did. We got there an hour before closing and the food, served buffet style, still tasted fresh. Everything was seasoned well. I had the chicken dressing, yams and greens. Took me back to a dinner at Grandma's house. Daughter got fried chicken, mash potatoes and Mac n cheese; SIL got baked chicken, pintos and Mac n cheese. They were also impressed with their choices. We will definitely be back!”

“This was our first visit to the Decatur Olive Garden as we recently moved to town. However, we have enjoyed this restaurant for many years and were happy to have one close by.Our server was friendly, efficient, and fun to chat with. Our food was as expected: delicious! Could have charged me $2.40 for the one can. I don't know and do not care. $2.40 would break me. Such stupidity... by the way. I stopped at the 6th Ave first then two days later at the Beltline Waffle House.”

ALSO, it tasted so good, I couldn't stop once I started ?The restaurant had some staffing issues so they didn't offer done in BUT they offered takeout which was awesome of them to do.I ordered the pulled pork sandwich slaw on it and the brisket sandwich with slaw on it along with a sweet tea.The meat was cooked perfectly and the flavor was out of this world. You know it's good when you don't need to add BBQ sauce to it. I did try their in house BBQ sauce though and it was delicious as well.The sweet tea was also good. Just the right about of sweet.There's a reason they have so many trophies lined up around the restaurant.Highly recommend Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q if you're looking for some real authentic bbq”
