If you're in Tuscaloosa and enjoy Japanese food, Kobe Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar is definitely worth a visit. The Hibachi (teppanyaki) experience is one of the few you'll find in the area, making it a fun and unique dining experience. Even if you're just going as a couple, you can still enjoy the experience. We were lucky that other guests also ordered hibachi, so the chef cooked for everyone at the table, turning dinner into a great show.

The sushi was also excellent. After trying sushi at three or four different restaurants in Tuscaloosa, I can honestly say Kobe is one of the best. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.

Whether you're visiting Tuscaloosa or have lived here for a while and haven't been yet, Kobe is definitely a place worth checking out. Highly recommended!

I had a really bad experience with takeout tonight.
Firstly, my roll that is supposed to be fully cooked, was not. I’m very upset by this because I pick cooked rolls for a reason. Yes, that makes me a sushi wimp. I am ok with that. I included pictures of the end pieces being properly cooked and the other tuna meat not being cooked. The “breading” was barely yellow and not crispy or golden. :/

Secondly, we got an order of crab Rangoon.
I’m unsure if they are old or improperly assembled, but, you can see the pictures. they’re hard outside, mushy inside, and not melty whatsoever. They taste and feel awful. We usually love Kobe crab rangoons.
My husbands UA roll was great, but that was it:(
I called in the order, and when I went to pick it up, the employee was so kind and apologetic and explained someone had given the wrong order to wrong person. No biggie, I don’t mind waiting, and he was so professional.
But this was very very rushed and not okay for such a costly dinner. I would have rather waited ten more minutes for things to be properly assembled and actually cooked.

I hate that others seem to have bad experiences here lately. My wife and I loved it when we went a couple of weeks ago! Our waitress was very nice, and she even discussed our food with us (we had a mutual taste for udon). We sat near the front, and the hostess was warm with everyone that came in. They had decorated very festively for the season. I had a sushi roll, combo fried udon, and some crab rangoon. Best crab rangoon I've had in my life! Would definitely come back just for that, but the udon and sushi were great too! πŸ˜„

The best Japanese spot around! The food is absolutely delicious, the people are sweet, and the atmosphere is really nice. If you want some good japanese food, definitely hit this spot up! I recommend this place for sure. πŸ‘

We have been coming to this place for many years, usually for special occasions. It is still good food and atmosphere, however the quality of the meal is not what it used to be. We were slightly disappointed in this last visit, but we will try again in the future - it could have just been an off day. We ate at the hibachi tables

I ordered my food through DoorDash and the food was okay, but they left out part of my order. I called the guy who answered said he knew they forgot my food. Then he proceeds to tell me he will have DoorDash deliver the rest of the food. He didn’t call back and let me know that was a lie. I had to call back again for him to tell me he β€œcouldn’t get in contact with DoorDash” and he would have to ask his supervisor what to do. Their customer service has gotten horrible.

Wonderful experience! The hostess really sets the mood from the second we walked in. The chef's choice sashimi was amazing. They had a good choice of sake and drinks. I enjoyed the hot peach sake. Our drinks stayed full and appetizers came out prompt and hot/cold. The chef was amazing. The skill is always impressive, but his personality really made the evening for our entire table. The filet was cooked perfect medium rare.. My son spent 20 minutes checking out all of the characters around the koi pond. Prices are really good for what you get. We went all out with appetizers and drinks and still not that bad.

Saturday night I ate with my family here. when we finished our food had noticed a small ROACH (nasty one) (NOT A WOOD ROACH!) crawling onto the wall and into the ceiling. We all had saw it!! When we brought the attention of it to the main lady (hostess) at the front, in a pink kimono robe . She hushed us and made it seem like it was β€œno big deal” . This is unacceptable and not hygienic! I really loved this place but that is beyond me!
