I am not writing this review to be mean to this restaurant; I legit never want to leave bad reviews and I know it affects business. Rather, I’m writing this to save anyone else from eating some version of make-believe Mexican and being as sad and disappointed as I was.

The workers were good and the atmosphere was great, but the food truly was horrible—genuinely the worst food I’ve ever had at a restaurant and hands down the worst tacos I’ve ever eaten. My family dropped $70 and we legit couldn’t even finish it, which is very serious for us as I never do that.

The food had no flavor, the chips were soggy, and the corn tortillas looked and tasted like the most generic brand bought from a local Walmart. There is no way they actually made them in-house.

It’s a shame because the service was great, the atmosphere is awesome, but the food was a massive letdown.

Guacamole has a little kick but was still the best I’ve had in a while. What was most impressive the girl at the door with the star pants she was amazing. Just because of her I’ll go back and tell my friends a well 🥰

They give you plenty of chips with everything! Salsa is a bit spicy but yummy. Tacos are tasty.

So me and my daughters ate there today after church. As we got our food, we noticed that all the employees were on their phones while handling the food and also the girl standing at the food counter bagging and handing out food, was grabbing her short shorts and her phone and did not wash her hands and continued to touch the food. I’m pretty sure this is a violation of Health codes. And then we all leave after telling the manager which he did get up and go say something to his employees but we now all have upset stomachs and have not been able to sit down normal because our stomachs are hurting so bad. I hope we did not get food poisoning. I’m not trying to be a Karen. I’m just telling the truth because we have never had this experience at the taco mama In Homewood. But it is not sanitary for anyone to have their phone out in a restaurant

Was disappointed in the amount of toppings on my salad yesterday. Also not much lettuce either. $16 is a lot for me to spend on a salad. Newks has a much heartier one for same price. I usually go to the TACO MAMA in Homewood/Midtown and seem to get a larger portion of same order. Will drive to the Edgewood location next time.
