“The train car is what hooked us on trying this place. The food was ok, could've been better. It did smell like cigarettes inside, which was a turn off. We went about 9:30 in the morning & they weren't super busy. Our waiter was great though!“

“Whether you stopping by for lunch or enjoying a casual dinner and drinks with friends, I believe you’ll find this to be a relaxing place to meet up.I’ve been in a rush at lunchtime and stopped by to build my own salad from their salad bar. Each visit I’ve had fresh food to choose from and a nice variety as well.I enjoy their burgers as well. They’re large enough to make a couple of meals. They offer a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, appetizers, and plate lunches to satisfy a variety of appetites. They can get busy at lunch, so sometimes it’s better to call ahead if you’re in a rush.I’m addition to meals, they offer a nice selection of baked goods from desserts to breads.Drinks with friends? Sure. I love that there’s no glaring fluorescent lighting to detract from the decor. Lots of windows for the natural light to shine through and an interesting display of antiques and area photographs depicting the history of Union County as well.I would take a business colleague or friend here. It’s also within walking distance of the Murphy Arts District if you’re staying downtown.Recommended for the weekday tourists, businesses hosting out-of-town guests or for those wanting to grab a cup of soup for a friend or family member who’s on the mend and needs a bit of cheering up. You can depend on Elm Street to see you through.“

“Wow! Best tasting muffulettas! Homemade soup (we had vegetable and chicken and sausage) was some of the best I’ve tasted. Coffee fresh and excellent tasting. Reminds me of a little piece of Americana. Outdoor patio seating is available too. I would definitely go back! This restaurant is “Chris-approved!”“

“Visiting town on a business trip with colleagues. The hotel breakfast was cut back to the basics due to Covid. We were recommended to visit Johnny B's if we wanted a full breakfast. This is a classical small town diner. Nothing fancy, but plenty of charm. We seated ourselves and were given menus. Not many choices, but all of the essentials were there. Drinks were served promptly. Service from the kitchen was a bit slow. The restaurant wasn't overly crowded, but it took about 20 minutes to cook up a few eggs, a waffle, and an omelet. But the food arrived hot and was very good. The sausage patties were especially good - normally dried out, these were tender and really good. I ordered my eggs over easy, and they came out a little crispy. It was apparent that they were cooked on a hot griddle - too hot for over easy. They were good, regardless. We went back again for our second morning and had a similar experience. The waitstaff were very friendly and took good care of us. We had hoped to return for dinner one night, but went elsewhere to spend MUCH more money. Next time in town, we'll be sure to try Johnny's for dinner.“
