We were lost on this particular day! On our way home we stopped here. This place had a nice menu. The staff were polite and helpful. My companion wanted the catfish, I got the same. The corn fritters were the best I’ve had. The catfish was fresh and fried crispy! So good, I didn’t add anything to it, perfectly seasoned. For me the highlight was the pickled green tomatoes! Amazing. And the beans in this pot….just slow cooking! We were the only African American patrons sitting that day. But it didn’t seem to make a difference to anybody but us! lol
Parking: Huge parking lot. Standard.
Wheelchair accessibility: I don’t know if it was specifically wheelchair accessible but the doors were wide. The dining room had many tables that were quite spacious…between each table.

We had a large party and ended up with food poisoning. Called to let them know only to have the Manager and owner say there's nothing they can do about it. Waited over an hour for our food only for it to be cold, told waitress but was told there's no refunds, steak was burnt, Fish was muddy, strong fishy tasting.

Mud. I can’t believe others like the food. Mushy mud tasting catfish and cold fries. Have you guys never had good catfish?? Tartar sauce with zero flavor. People, we leave reviews so others can learn and restaurants can improve. It does no good to leave a good review if you don’t know what good is.
Service was, as someone else said, awful. Acted like I was the lucky one to be there today.
Owner, please start caring again like you did the day you opened the restaurant because clearly you don’t any more. It doesn’t have to be this bad. $17 for two pieces of catfish. Oh, hell no.

We waited 1.5hrs and still didn't get our food. Multiple tables sat down after us and were receiving their food. We were told it was the kitchen being slow but other tables were getting their food and it's not like we ordered anything special just fish. 2 stars because the hush puppies were good.
I haven’t been up to that area in several years … but they had the world’s BEST HUSHPUPPIES a few years ago. I am a fish & slaw & hushpuppies person!!

What happened to this place? Dropped $50 on the worst meal. I totally did not expect this. They used a lesser grade of fish IMO. It was without flavor, almost burnt on the outside and mushy on the inside with that slimy black stuff you see in flathead. There were a handful of what looked like slivers you would find in the bottom of the bag of the fries and they were cold. Our waitress didn't come by and ask us how things were until we were ready to leave. I told her what was wrong so she asked if I wanted something else. No I came in for catfish. She asked if we wanted to take our drinks and I said I would take mine so without a word she dropped off a cup. I NEVER NOT LEAVE A TIP BUT TODAY I MADE AN EXCEPTION. $50 is alot of money for a bowl of beans and hush puppies. The slaw btw is flavorless except for pepper so I always bring my own dressing from home to add to it. But the fish has always been fantastic. Sorry but I won't risk throwing away that kind of money again.

Everything about El Rey's was great! It wasn't busy when we were there, so we were seated right away. Chips and salsa were served from the moment we arrived. The menu has a lot of options. Once we ordered, we didn't have to wait too long to get our food. Great portion sizes, and everything tasted amazing! We'll definitely be back!
