I got an iced coffee with vanilla syrup- it was awful. The coffee was bitter and the syrup tasted like chemicals. Probably one of the worst iced coffees I've had.
The baristas were very nice and it's a cute little shop, but the coffee was absolutely terrible.
Edit: I can see from other reviews I wasn't the only person that had a problem with the vanilla syrup. DO NOT ORDER THE VANILLA SYRUP.
This is my favorite coffee shop in Flagstaff. They are actually closed at 5pm on Sundays despite the Google cite and door sign hours. They turned away 7 people at 5:15 pm.

I meet friends here for coffee often. We sit out on the patio in back. It is a beautiful, peaceful place to sit, sip a very tasty coffee, and catch up

Needed coffee for my late drive to PHX and sat down for a much needed break 30 minutes before they closed. The coffee was solid, loved the quiet atmosphere but the place was still quite busy with lot of foot traffic in and out which was nice to see. Not sure if there is a better coffee shop downtown, but can’t go wrong here.

I was really excited to try this place out, but unfortunately, I was let down by the staff. There were 3 employees behind the counter, and none of them seemed welcoming—no smiles or friendly interaction at all. We placed our order and waited for a while, only to notice that the customers who were behind us had already received their drinks and left. When we checked the counter, our drinks were just sitting there, with no one letting us know they were ready.
As for the drinks, we tried the Amtrak Frappe and the Hot Blackberry White Mocha. The Frappe was disappointing. It tasted like iced slush with just a hint of coffee flavor. On the other hand, the White Mocha was actually pretty decent.
I’d love to give the place another try and explore their seasonal drinks, but they definitely need to improve their customer service if they want to create a better experience for their customers.

Came in on 9/19/2025 around 12pm it was not busy at all there was a few people
Sitting inside. First interaction walking in was not welcoming at all, employees looked like they were miserable and did not want to be there. We walked up to the cashier to place our order the young lady that took our order looked very miserable as well did not smile nor look at us once. Yes we did tip we left 25% because I myself work in the hospitality industry but Jesus if you hate your job don’t work there, coffee was good but will not return nor recommend because of service. Once our drinks were done our name was not called for nor were we acknowledged by any of the staff so I had to walk up and check after seeing others walking off with drinks. I know it’s a small business and I hate writing negative reviews but the owners need to do better with training there staff on customer service.

first impressions staff was not kind in particular the taller young lady with the shag haircut, our order took a little long to make & she gave me the wrong drink which she snatched back with annoyance when I told her I had ordered something else, very bad customer service, our coffees were great but we will not be back. Definitely a hipster vibe with some good drinks, great location but horrible staff

If you’re in Flagstaff and looking for a great coffee spot, you definitely need to check out Late for the Train. It’s one of those places that feels like a hidden gem. The vibe is super cozy and perfect for chilling with a coffee, studying, or hanging out with friends. The second you walk in, you just feel at home.

The matcha is very bad. Too overpriced for this sweet matcha that can’t adjust anything. The way they market is it ceremonial grade, it tastes like the one from walmart and too sweet. Not worth the money for matcha. However, the coffee taste good.

Seems like there are enough comments about the rude and condescending bald guy for his behavior to have actually been addressed. Hopefully he’s receiving the feedback and has some sort of action plan in place for improvement on his attitude. A person like this could really drive folks away and into coffee shops with much kinder, more considerate staff. Immediately after walking in, I felt there was a customer service issue with tone/body language and a lack of acknowledgment. My husband asked for a cappuccino with oat milk & the bald gentleman proceeded to engage in semantics with him over why oat milk couldn’t produce a dry cappuccino. He actually volunteered that this would produce a very wet cappuccino. I suppose his barista expertise was somehow offended by the request and required him to have the last word because he continued making remarks after my husband said he never has an issue with this order at other shops. My husband is an avid coffee drinker with culinary experience. He’s the last person to need a food science explanation of dairy separation in coffee preparation. My husband proceeded to wait for his order by standing back against the wall that faces the hanging menu board where only one other prospective patron stood in front of him waiting to place their order. The same gentleman that was personally offended by the oat milk request made it a point to say that the coffee would be coming out on the other side which came across as doubling down on the already negative behavior. Both he and the young woman who was doing side work and could absolutely not be bothered should probably find something else to do with their time. It’s clear customer service doesn’t matter to either of them. Hopefully, that’s not the truth for the entirety of this business.

I absolutely love this little coffee shop. And don’t get me wrong. The parking downtown can be a bit atrocious, but that has nothing to do with the service and quality of the coffee both which are fantastic. I am a huge food critic, so I was pleasantly surprised when the coffee and pastries passed the test. 💙
