Audrey made me the best iced Americano I’ve ever had. Tremendous! Exactly what I needed for my drive back to Phx
Matador Coffee Roasting Company has a super cute, welcoming atmosphere that really draws you in from the street. Unfortunately, the coffee experience didn’t quite match the vibe.
When we asked the barista about the flavor profile of their coffee, whether it leaned more bitter or sour he wasn’t sure. We ordered an iced Americano and a cold brew. The Americano had barely any coffee flavor and just a few ice cubes that melted right away, making it taste even more watered down. The cold brew was fine, but definitely not memorable.
For $12, we expected a bit more expertise and flavor. Great setting, but the drinks left us underwhelmed.
Adorable little shop! Delicious coffee!
Friendly Service Was not that happy with the coffee,
The coffee here is top-tier, smoothies are great too, but breakfast was subpar. My family all got breakfast sandwiches and bagels and I ordered the matadora. I found out upon opening my box of food that it was avocado toast, and not an avocado sandwich... And for avocado toast, it was pretty bottom of the barrel. The avocado looked and tasted like it was squeezed out of a puree bag, and the 'slices of tomato' were hacked at and spread unevenly. It was a joke. Once again though, the drinks are absolutely amazing, but the food was a disappointment.
The lady at the front was lovely and the ambience cool. The rest… I ordered an oatmilk latte, it was so hot that I burnt my entire mouth and there was no microfoam, just overly heated milk. No latte art either.
They remade it with whole milk (thanks!), but even then, it was not a latte. Way too many air bubbles in the milk, coffee tasted burnty
For someone who loves coffee and knows a fair bit about it, it was disappointing.
At a coffee place, I would expect great coffee - what I came for.
Best frozen mocha I have ever had! Not to sweet and amazing coffee flavor!!
Stayed 4 days in Flagstaff and Sedona, this was the best espresso we had. They seemed to roast kind of dark.

I had high expectations for this coffee shop. 1st of all, as a family we walked in, there was nobody at the front, seemed like it was closed, until some lady came to the front took our order, she already looked annoyed and out of it… i asked her what kind of scones they have, she rudely said, “whatever we have on the case is what we have!”
As a 1st timer, i rate this place a 4/10
Didn’t get get greeted we got attitude instead
Didn’t get good coffee we got half assed coffee…
For the price we paid, def not worth it.

The management has issues and these folks aren't being paid enough to deal with them. When I'm gettin a coffee I used to see a stoutly manager being rude and argumentative to not only customers but her own coworkers, I don't think she's working there anymore. I think it would be great if matador could reconsider the dynamics within their workplace, accounting for what works best for the workers so they feel less stressed so it's a overall happier place to be enjoying my coffee. I used to love this place but it feels like there are new faces every other couple weeks, and we enjoy the personal, kind, and friendly experience my husband and I used to love at matador. On other fronts their pastries are "homemade" when they definitely come from like Sam's club or Walmart or something because i swear the banana chocolate bread thing comes from a grocery store, I've seen it. You'd get a much better pastry like from village bakery at late for the train and a much better kinder experience.

We didn't even get served. We were carrying our tiny puppy and we came to the shop door as the drive thru was closed. The massive garage like doors were open and a lady yelled at us that our puppy was a health hazard and we could not come in and waiting outside would attract stray dogs so we left without drinks.

I very rarely write reviews, however, felt I had to share this. If I could give zero stars, I would. My partner and I are Australian and earlier this year we travelled extensively throughout the US. We stopped in here late afternoon on 10 June 2024. I'd love to be able to advise what we thought of the coffee, however, the male (brown hair, moustache, approximately aged in his 40s) did not serve us. In fact, he did not even acknowledge us. He was too busy having a personal conversation with a woman (blonde, approximately early 20s) about a job interview or the likes over the counter and then he proceeded to roam the floor where other patrons were seated eating and drinking. He returned to the counter and still did not look at us. After at least three solid minutes of waiting, we left. For a country known for their customer service, we thought this was a disgrace. Do yourself a favour and go to Wicked AZ for coffee instead. The staff are friendly and efficient and the coffee is awesome. Great value/price too. During our trip, we travelled far and wide through the US and this was by far the worst customer service we received.
