Akai Hana Sushi & Grill

This little gem Akai Hana has been my favorite since 2007 , I have tried pretty much all the wonderful sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi on their menu. They also have excellent cooked food and drinks!!

So far, this is easily my wife and my favorite sushi spot in Arizona.

From the moment you walk in, you can tell they take pride in delivering a truly authentic Japanese dining experience. The service reflects that traditional hospitality, attentive, respectful, and consistent every single visit.

But the real standout is the fish. The quality is top-tier, genuinely some of the freshest and best-prepared sushi we’ve had. You can tell they focus on sourcing and handling their seafood with care, which makes every bite feel clean, rich, and balanced. It’s the kind of place where even simple nigiri shines.

Everything we’ve tried has been consistently excellent, from classic rolls to sashimi. And of course, pairing it all with a cold Sapporo just completes the experience perfectly.

You can see why places like this build such a loyal following. It’s not just a meal, it’s a go-to spot you keep coming back to.

Food is mediocre, good portions for what you pay for. Restaurants staff is friendly. Restaurant is clean and organized music was good. Food just wasn’t special. I ordered the lunch pork cashu a with miso soup side salad with rice. Pork Cashu was crispy breading but tough to chew a bit over cooked. Salad was crisp but dressing was flavorless. I also ordered the mistake roll and it was big and crisp but lacked flavor. Over all food came out hot and big portions for a good price but just lacks flavor. Thankful for the meal.

This used to be our go to place for sushi but out last couple of visits have been less than stellar. Pork rolls tasted like old grease and burnt, sushi plates were bland and had to ask twice for more ginger and wasabi. My tea, though clearly empty was never refilled. Most disappointing was they no longer have the all day Sunday Happy Hour.

I really hate this restaurant from the bottom of my heart. The wait time is just ridiculous. There’s no one in the restaurant and it takes forever for them to prepare the food.

The food was good but it took foreeeever to get it! It didn't seem busy, but maybe they were short staffed I don't know. There was four in our party and they brought our order out one at a time like 10-15 minutes apart which I thought was strange so the first of us to get her order finished her food well before the last order was finally brought to the table. I was hangry as I was last to get my food & I had to scarf it down since everyone else in my party had already finished eating...I guess that's why I forgot to take pictures of the food but I did get a pic of the cool lighting fixture😁

Amazing food and amazing vibes. Had a bit of a wait time but we'll worth it. Service was dope and staff was on point.

I love that they have vegetarian options! The food is very good. I think I've tried all the veg stuff and I've been happy with all of it.
