Extraordinary service, a wide variety of food choices, ample portions and a great neighborhood family atmosphere. With easy access to roadways, this place will get a regular visit from us.

Backwoods Bar & Grill feels like a true Rim Country hangout, the kind of place where the music is turned up, the laughter is loud, and the plates are as full as the beer glasses.

It has a rugged charm that matches its name, with a casual atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Locals mix with travelers, and everyone seems to find common ground over good food and a cold drink.

The menu leans into comfort food with confidence. Burgers come stacked high, the wings arrive hot and messy in the best way, and the steaks have that satisfying grill flavor you hope for in a place like this.

Portions are generous, and it’s easy to see why people come hungry and leave happy. The drinks are poured strong, with plenty of options on tap and a bar that feels like the hub of the room.

What makes Backwoods memorable is the energy. Some nights you’ll find live music or karaoke, other nights it’s just the steady hum of a bar where people are having a good time. It’s lively, it’s a little rowdy, and it’s exactly what it promises to be.

Tbh , I usually only Pass through Payson when I'm going from the white mountains to the valley, And most of the time I stop at the Buffalo,
For some reason, today this place came up on my maps for lunch, And I'm so glad I stopped in!
Dakota, the bartender was amazing! Give me tips for things around town, and even timed my burger perfectly after I took a little bit with my appetizers lol
I pass thru Payson, a lot,
Especially from now until December, And I will definitely be stopping by here again and again!!!

T is the best. Her personality was lively and funny. Made sure our food was done right and never let our drinks run dry. She is awesome.

This place has a bar side AND a seating area for families so that was nice. We got to go. They didn’t seem as prepared for to-go orders but they did alright. It was just a bit of a wait and they seemed unsure .

Food was delish! I got a salad as a wrap option. It was big enough for two meals. Steak fries were solid and seasoned well.
