Phoenix is THE place to explore great Mexican food. As a huge fan of trying all the regional flavor profiles of Mexican cuisine, over the past 40 yrs been to hundreds of different places throughout the valley from street carts to James Beard restaurants & everything/anywhere in between. Altough there are many wonderful places, never written a review for any restaurant but wanted to share this ~ El Jacal is such a special place! Been to El Jacal several times in recent years!...
This little place off 32nd street and Thomas is definitely a must!! El Jacal (pronounced ha-call) has a great, homey vibe, and the food is phenomenal!
Try the Pastor and Barbacoa tacos! The flavor is indescribably delicious. If you like a little more spice, the green enchiladas are muah!!! 10/10

A wonderful escape from reality with amazing food. We order the goat birria and chorizo burro, the burro was rolled perfectly and to our amazement with no oil soaking the tortilla. The quesa birria de chivo was delicious, if I could of I would have ordered another round. We also ordered Horchata and cucumber water, absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this little hidden gem. ❤️
