Manager with power complex and couldn’t give a crap attitude made this a big miss. Funny how one person can ruin a night. Shame he is actually a supervisor. First night in Phoenix and not impressed.

The bouncer had little customer service experience; he was unable to deescalate an interaction with a single individual over emptying a water bottle.
We did not go in as we think it is unreasonable to require your patrons to empty out their water prior to entering the establishment without an explanation, especially considering Arizona is a desert and I just experienced heat exhaustion for the first time in my life the day prior because this AZ is hell on earth.

To the owner/manager: I'd recommend a bottle lockers/valet. If other establishments can do it with cars, you can do it with bottles.

To patrons: You should come here if you want to feel nostalgia from being treated like a child.

Edit (post establishment response):
Thanks for the response, Nick. The message you claim was communicated at the door was unfortunately not actually said by the bouncer. Furthermore, we were allowed entry into every other bar with our water bottles that same night (Sunday night). Lastly, the windshield wiper motion your bouncer did towards my face was extremely rude (I decided to omit this portion in original post). I truly wish you good luck running your business, I feel you will need it.

A hostile and intimidating environment, especially for minorities. Do black lives really not matter?

Writing this review in regards to an experience that I had with my partner last night. Generally, Luckys has been an okay spot to visit in downtown the past couple times I have been. This time around, the customer service was alarming. My partner and I were in the bar at about 1:30 AM having a good time. No trouble whatsoever from our end, she was dancing and having fun with a friend she met and I was just chatting. We went to get another drink and the bartender tells my girlfriend that she is cut off. We were both very confused as they had minimal drinks that night and were just dancing? We act this way sober lol! Does this bar not want their patrons to enjoy the music🤨 Anyways, the bartender was very rude about the situation too, coming off hot right away. My girlfriend did nothing but ask for a drink, so she needs to be addressed as such, politely. You are a sober bartender, act as such, introduce situations calmly please… You should be a PRO at this, it’s your job! Security was much nicer than the bartender. What is also weird was that I was wayyy deeper into my night than my gf but I wasn’t cut off? Poor judgement on intoxication by the bartender, more importantly, poor deescalation. If the bartender wants to cut us off for whatever reason, cool, do that. But handle it politely and treat your patrons with fairness and respect. Overall just a weird experience. Won’t be going back because I guess what we can expect is to be unfairly cut off for having fun and to be treated poorly. Seriously, not to dwell on the cutting off thing because that’s not the main problem but my girlfriend seriously was not drunk whatsoever😂 If anyone should’ve been cut off it was me😂 Also she’s a black woman and i’m a white guy so I hope that had nothing to do with it…

Service was horrible, My partner and I got there tonight one of the bartenders mind you it is 1:30 AM said that she was going to cut me off even though I only had one drink (mind you I’m a black woman) , but offered him 2 drinks ( he’s white ). I let her know that was fine because honestly, I did not care. However she kept repeating it with the attitude and I called her out for her attitude and then she called security on me. How is an establishment, allowing the bartenders to speak to customers like that? Super rude 0/10 couldn't recommend. Keep in mind there was a white couple that were dancing and the girlfriend that was singing the lyrics out loud weren’t kicked out.. it’s giving power trip.

It’s a great atmosphere for all ages here, do not expect good customer service from employees at this place, including management.

I've been here once and will never be back because how rude the security is. I was sitting to close a small door and the security told me I couldn't sit that close to the door and had to move my chair. That was not the issue. It was the way he spoke to me. He was glaring at me and had a nasty attitude. I was literally just sitting. I was not being obnoxious and I was not drunk. He was rude for no reason.
