I had driven by here several times and wanted to come, but had not gotten the chance to and my sister surprised me with late dinner here. Let me tell you, the place is clean, the menu is simple, the food is delicious & the dessert is incredible. I was not a fan of the enchiladas but for the rest of our order, I am a fan of them.Golden beat & pear saladGrilled prime flat iron steakSeared organic Scottish salmonThe beignets - I can just go order to bring home. They were so good. For me, it is a bit pricey but with no doubt I would come back. It is worth it!

Southern Rail continued to be one of the all time best restaurants in Phoenix. We are so heartbroken at its closing today. The employees deserved better than 3 days notice before Christmas of the closing. But despite that, food is always outstanding and the service exceptional. We will miss this excellent restaurant. Becketts Table is not nearly as good. And if they were in a better location, I know SR would have succeeded for a while longer.

Not very crowded at all tonight, felt odd but the food was great as usual. Just seemed like it took a bit longer to get the food. We noticed that there was a very large party near the kitchen so that may have been the reason.

What a wonderful 2 year anniversary dinner! They had a sweet card on the table for us and a delicious dessert! We love coming here and make it a staple for special occasions with a hug of southern comfort.

My husbands family owned a restaurant in Hope Arkansas He's been looking for fried chicken and turnip greens that tasted like home Southern Rails did just that!! Highly recommend their fried chicken and turnip greens

Service was just awful--it wasn't that crowded, maybe four tables. Everything took for absolute ever. The waiter did not know the menu and brought me extra of what I simply asked to have none/zero of and was proud of it. Soup served with no spoon. Food they said they specialized in, fried chicken, worse than KFC and flavorless with a lot of sinew and tendons.

We had a great experience. The food was flavorful, large portions, and the margaritas we perfect. I would recommend the Chicken Salad Sandwich for lunch with the fries! The salads were also well balanced and the veggies were fresh. Definitely going back!

Southern Rail was an amazing restaurant experience. Our server Shanon was great and helped us choose some menu items. Their iced tea was refreshing and I particularly loved the meatloaf, dirty rice balls and bread pudding. I will definitely be coming back to try new things.

My second visit here and was sadly disappointed. I feel like there's so much potential here, becaaue the atmosphere is lovely, and in a great spot uptown. Our server herself was amazing, super helpful and cheerful, but she was the only one working tables and the bar too so she wasn't coming by to check on us. A few times we had to get up and go fetch her. I ordered the meatloaf and it was a thin dry piece. Very disappointing for the price. My friends each had the fried chicken which was very over-fried, the skin was almost charred in some places. We ordered a side of Mac and cheese for the table and there was hardly and sauce on it. No cheesy flavor. The only saving grace were the beignets. They were delicious, fluffy, soft and perfectly fried. Ordered a 2nd plate of those. Southern Rail needs to pay .ore attention to the food quality being served, as well as staff more appropriately- we saw managers standing around and not checking on guests while the waitress/server was doing all the work. At this point, I would not recommend.

This restaurant is excellent. Food is superb. Service is great. Location is iconic. Be warned that the street noise is LOUD if you are sitting outside, so inside is a better choice.

Not sure what is going on with this establishment. Went for brunch at 1:45 on a Saturday and the place was empty. The menu was limited so we decided to just have apps and leave. Appetizers were delicious, deviled eggs and rice balls and service was phenomenal. Wish the menu would be reevaluated.

Visited this spot for the first time for a friend’s birthday and enjoyed the service and most of the menu items we received. They have a great spot for a private party and drinks had a nice pour! Of the appetizers we tried I most enjoyed the pimento cheese—super creamy and lots of bread to spread it on! For our side I had the gumbo, which from my perspective could have been spicier and had more sausage. It seemed like mostly shredded chicken and the soup. The salad was beautiful with delicious colored carrots and radishes too. Our entrees were steak and the shrimp and grits—both cooked well although the shrimp could have been larger in size. All the food was hot and fresh when served to our large party. The three desserts were all delicious with my favorite being the little tart—which may only be available for larger parties. The beignets were also delicious, even the next morning with coffee!

The manager harassed us because we didn't give a large enough tip. I was in town visiting from Maryland and I took my younger cousins out for dinner, a treat that was all on me. We ate and the bill was around 400 dollars, for a group of 5, which I paid for and left a 20 dollar tip. The manager took us to the side and stated my workers don't work for free and told us never to come back. He was rude to us from the time we walked in. Not everyone can afford a 100 dollar tip, especially if the bill is covered by one person. Please avoid this place !!!
