I had driven by here several times and wanted to come, but had not gotten the chance to and my sister surprised me with late dinner here. Let me tell you, the place is clean, the menu is simple, the food is delicious & the dessert is incredible. Southern Rail continued to be one of the all time best restaurants in Phoenix. We are so heartbroken at its closing today. The employees deserved better than 3 days notice before Christmas of the closing. But despite that, food is always outstanding and the service exceptional. We will miss this excellent restaurant. Becketts Table is not nearly as good. And if they were in a better location, I know SR would have succeeded for a while longer.

Not very crowded at all tonight, felt odd but the food was great as usual. Just seemed like it took a bit longer to get the food. We noticed that there was a very large party near the kitchen so that may have been the reason.
