I originally visited Barrio Queen when it was in the barrio, the original restaurant. It reminded me of eating homemade meals at by abuelitas in Mexico. But now they made changes and not for the better! The chips are awful now. Why’d they change the thick freshly made chips for those thin crappy ones? Very clean restaurant. Alot of seating inside and in the patio area. Reservations can be made for parties. Children welcome. The have a bar area with TV's. Not a long wait for food, which had vegan options.
I have been her a few times and I always had the carne asada dinner which is very good and one of my favorites in the valley. Now on this setting I tried the carnitas ( pork) And to be honest carnitas is hard to get wrong but yep they did i do not believe i have ever had worse. It was dry and brazed no that is not even close to right. Carnitas should be lightly cooked very juicy and lots of flavor. This was well torched dry and barely any flavor.Who ever came up with that recipe...
