Really enjoyed the food. Just got some light bites here but they were delicious. Great atmosphere inside too.

This was our second visit to BATA this month and well worth it. The ambience was delightful, the service was outstanding and the food was spectacular. We appreciated that fact that the menu on this second visit was entirely different than the one on our first visit. Our food selections arrived at the table at a pace that allowed us to enjoy each one individually. We enjoyed two different bread selections, beautifully prepared vegetable selections and delicious halibut and beef courses. The wine list was extensive and added to our dinners. Finally, we were celebrating a birthday and a large plate with delicious carrot cake and a "Happy Birthday" message made the evening complete. We will be back and we give BATA a Five-Star recommendation.

Came here to celebrate my Anniversary and visiting from out of town I was hoping the mixed reviews were not a foreshadow of what was to come. I unfortunately should have heeded the warning from those who came before. One note dishes with average execution. Hard to describe how to make so many different ingredients so bland. One shining star of the night the bordelaise on the 55 dollar steak. I've eaten at Michelin stars for less than what all of these “small” plate creations cost me tonight. Don't imagine I'll be coming back anytime soon... but by that time this place will be well and gone I'm sure.

In a word, amateurish. This is just not what one would expect from an upscale restaurant with high aspirations. Very disappointing. The space is nice. Comfortable, interesting, huge open kitchen. I just wish the rest of the experience was even close to that. The service was horrible. I could go into all of the details - plates left on the table, requests unfulfilled, ... but it would bore whoever was reading this. Not good. Front of the house - horrible. Non existent actually. How was your meal? Thanks for dining with us. Good night. Anything one would expect from a high end restaurant. Nothing. Zero. All that could be overlooked if the food was special, but unfortunately it was not at all. Some interesting attempts but everything mostly missed the mark. And... VERY heavy handed in the salt department on almost all dishes. This restaurant needs someone in the front of the house with some experience in a high end establishment watching over the entire operation. There was no one there that came close to that, and it showed in the restaurant's performance. Needs LOTS of work.

Absolutely outstanding experience on every level! I've enjoyed steak tartare in fine restaurants around the world and never had one better than what I sampled last night at Bata. Each plate was delicious ... offering a unique approach. Add to that the commitment to local sourcing and respect for the earth and our region and it's an absolute must. Not inexpensive, but worth it!

Food is very one-dimensional. Every dish is either too salty or too smoky. Presentation is excellent. Service was very good. Cocktails are excellent. The steak was good, but very overpriced - and too salty.

The tapas style format left for a disjointed dining experience. For example our meal ended with broccoli. The kitchen decides the sequence of serving. FYI our table of two ladies split 4 tapas plus a bread product and the amount of food was appropriate.

The root vegetable tart (appetizer) was disagreeably runny and flavorless. The halibut was overcooked to the point of mushiness. Despite our request for the beef dish to not be rare, it was served rare. The grilled carrots were fine, but not the taste experience the waiter extolled (however, the green chili sauce that came with the carrots was very good). The sorbet was OK, and the coffee tasted good but served lukewarm. Emptied plates accumulated on and crowded the table (despite the good number of staff on the floor). Many of the staff were condescending. We were disappointed in, and will not return to, this restaurant.

Amazing dinner at Bata. Our servicer (wish I could remember her name) was amazing. She definitely enjoyed her job and was very kind. The food was all delicious, there was 6 of us so we ate family style, ordering multiple different things. Our highlights were, the winter squash, beef tartar, carrots, picanha and the dessert when we dined was a smoked carrot cake, citrus sorbet and some sort of ice cream, all 3 were delicious 10/10. Would absolutely recommend this place for anyone in or visiting Tucson. We also all had cocktails/mocktails and wine all of which were clearly well thought out and curated for the menu.

Food and service were outstanding! Love that they source locally, or as close to as possible. The portion are very small as this is a tapas style restaurant. The cost is also very high for what you get. If you are super hungry looking for a large meal, this is not the place.

Reallly, really good - one of the best experiences overall I've had in a while. A relaxed, food-focused evening with great service. Plan to take your time and enjoy every bite. Went with friends- the 4 of us shared: root vegetable tartlet (tiny & delicious!); malawech with labneh (soooo good, I only wish I'd saved a little more of the bread to have with my meal so I could swipe up all the various sauces - in fact, this would be my only complaint: there was no standard bread for mopping up all the deliciousness); tuna crudo which was different than I expected and such a delicious mix of flavors; 7 way beets (I absolutely love beets but this was a bit smokey and off for me but my companions loved them); a lovely charry broccoli; halibut in a cream sauce over a bed of grain porridge (halibut cooked beautifully and grains delicious and al dente); winter squash with all kinds of tasty accoutrements. In addition, the others had a beef picanha with Brussels that they raved about (I don't do beef). Oh! Friends also started with a beef and pork kufta which they really liked, especially the chile tzatziki. Perhaps my favorite? My cocktail - a riff on a Daiquiri with Falernum - omg so good. I had 2 and wanted at least 7 more. Hubby's old fashioned was VERY good. Lovely ambiance, relaxed and classy, interesting and appealing to the eye. Some would say a little pricey but I felt like the quality and experience was appropriate. Server suggested 2-3 plates per person (or 8-9 for table of 4) - we ordered 11 total (3 of which were “singles” - not for sharing - @ like $6 a piece so those in total should really count for 1 item which would bring us in at 9 dishes) and we were all quite stuffed - no room for dessert :( So we could easily have gotten 1-2 fewer dishes and been more than satisfied (then we prolly would have shared 1 dessert).

This restaurant has done of the most creative and delicious offerings of any restaurant I've been too. We chose Bata based on reviews and the fact that they source locally - and we were wowed by the menu, flavors and knowledge of the waitstaff. It seems like the staff all genuinely enjoy and take pride in working there which says a lot about the owners. This is a not to miss place!

This Is our third time at Bata, and the first time was glorious. Second, and third, not as much . Decor is attractive. Waitress was very helpful. The dishes very tasty. But the portions are getting smaller it seems, the cocktails lack in alcohol (which the bartender quickly corrected, and we appreciated it), and, unfortunately, the halibut was not fresh enough . It was not spoiled obviously, but not fresh. So we may wait a while to go back.

Bata was a wonderful experience! The food was amazing! Drinks, starters, entree and deserts! Mathew our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, a gem! The grilled mushroom skewer was my favorite, amazing!! We will definitely return for another delicious and delightful experience!

I have wanted to go to Bata since it opened! It was a great experience and we will be back. Great food and service at a reasonable price. Also, an easy 5.4 mile ride from River and First down Stone with more than adequate nearby parking!
