Blown away!!!! Wow. We are from Denver so we eat a lot of good Mexican food and this place was possibly the best carne asada and the best seafood enchiladas we have ever had. Service was great. Ambiance was so fun. Will be back.

Couldnāt wait to try Charro Steak in Casas Adobes. What a huge disappointment! I ordered the chefās special steak which was very tough and chewy. Gf ordered enchiladas which included steak and said it wasnāt good. Huh. Never had a bad steak at the Keg!

When I travel to Tucson for work, I always hit Charro Steak. Steaks are always fantastic, but this time what really made me happy was their chips and fries are fried in beef tallow. Delicious!

Went here on a work outing with colleagues. Wait staff was fantastic dealing with our large party of 8. We were seated and had drinks and food very quickly despite how busy they are.
Had the bone in strip steak with mushrooms, was absolutely top notch. All around very impressed, will definitely be back the next time I am in Tucson.

I scouted the place ~3 PM right after checking into the AC Marriott 30 feet across the street and the smell of the mesquite wood and seeing beef tallow on the menu for frying chips/french fries all but confirmed my later dinner visit.
Having already gotten off a carne asada meat high in New York City just a few days ago (see my Los Tacos No. 1 review) I had the most wonderful server who provided focused recommendations on what I should order. She shared some of the history of the family behind the establishment and that they used traditional methods with only the most top quality grass fed and finished beef for the menu. No marinades here! They let the quality of the beef speak for itself. I do tend to think of amazing beef and Texas as a thang, but I am so pleased to announce that Tucson deserves a visit if only for a meal here.
I started with a house salad with homemade lime ginger vinaigrette that could be the base of a cocktail it was so refreshing. Although I contemplated going with the bone-in ribeye to keep my cost down a little and because I wanted to compare it with my NYC experience I went with the carne asada served to medium-rare perfection. With an extra little dash of tableside salt and pepper and squishing the still hot fire-roasted lime the meat was incredibly tender and flavorful, delivered to my mouth in the freshly made flour tortilla and charro beans. What an insane steak taco experience.
Mac & cheese is never a focus for me. If Iām offered it sure Iāll take it. But I highly recommend you order their Chile Verde Mac & Cheese, which has incredibly creamy and thick cheese sauce, imbibed with green chilies and other peppers on top-it is not spicy, it is just very robust with that pepper-forward cheese magic.
The environment is very warm, cozy, modern and traditional all at once. This is the perfect restaurant made only better by attentive service from the only server I will recommend: Ro. Ask for her and then just relax, trust her guidance, and order. Choose to live in the moment with friends and strangers around you with your phone put away, your cares put on hold and enjoy your time at Charro Steak and the sister side Del Rey (which has the same menu).
Bon mexi-friggen-appƩtit!

We are frequent visitors to Tucson and love exploring the food scene, so we were excited to try Charro Steak & Del Rey. The ambiance is beautiful, sultry enough for a romantic night out, yet still welcoming for families or groups celebrating together. Definitely insta-worthy.
We were warmly welcomed and quickly seated, which was a great start. Chips and salsa arrived quickly, but it took a while before water and drinks made it to the table. Our server explained that one of our cocktails required a trip to their sister restaurant, which contributed to the delay. Salsa offered so many delicious flavors, combined it was a jackpot.
We ordered the Chefās Cut of the night along with the tableside Caesar salad. The salad was a highlight w/ fun presentation, great story, and absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, nearly 30 minutes after ordering, we were told the entrĆ©e was no longer available. We quickly pivoted to another option, but by the time the steak arrived (about an hour into the meal), it was barely warm and slightly overcooked. The flavor of the Montana grass-fed beef was excellent, but the execution missed the mark for what should have been a standout dish.
Dessert saved the evening, the lava cake was excellent. However, timing was again an issue: my original coffee cocktail couldnāt be made, so I switched to a chocolate espresso martini, which arrived after the ice cream with our dessert had already started melting.
Overall, Charro Steak & Del Rey offers wonderful ambiance and great flavors, but our evening was overshadowed by timing issues, long delays, and missed expectations for a fine dining experience. I truly believe the food is very good here, just wish the service flow matched the quality of the ingredients.

Good steak, good seafood. You might smell like mesquite smoke a bit when you leave, but if you're up for a good steak it's fine. There are two charro restaurants side by side, which made it interesting when we were supposed to meet with others who made the reservation.

We had a new server that took a while to get around to us and keep the food coming and glasses full. The margarita was bland.

I had an interesting night dining in here. They werenāt very busy, food was good but honestly the service was odd. Our group had an older lady serving us I believe her name was Erin and drinks took forever. She was trying to make small talk but we were waiting for too long for everything. Waters even took a while. Overall food was delicious but the service was far off from what I would expect at this price.

Last night we went to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first experience at this restaurant and everybody we encountered was absolutely wonderful. Danny was our server and he really knows his stuff. He answered all of our questions without hesitation and helped us choose wisely on the menu. The main things I really enjoyed were the salsa made with roasted vegetables. It had absolutely amazing flavor. I even asked for a little container to take what was left home because it was so delicious. They also sell it by the jar and that is good to know. My salmon was grilled absolutely perfectly. My husband had a bone in ribeye. I definitely had to try a bite. I donāt believe Iāve ever tasted a steak that was so tender, and had such good flavor in my entire life. Iāve never been a huge steak eater because I usually find it flavorless. But now Iām looking forward to coming back and getting a filet. The fries cooked in beef tallow were absolutely amazing. I also really really enjoyed the chicken tortilla soup. I have never known a broth soup to have so much flavor. I got a lemon drop from the bar and it was so good. Not overly sweet with a grilled lemon slice floating in it. It was beautiful as well as delicious. The flan we got for dessert was very light and melted in your mouth. On our way out the door we were also given a nice little card and gift. It was so thoughtful. I like how you can splurge and buy a $70 steak. Or the chicken tortilla soup wouldāve been a lovely meal on its own if you want to spend or eat less.We very much enjoyed our evening and will be back.
