lodging was very good but the base it self is dismal. Nothing is open any longer. Movie theater, bowling alley, and NCO are all closed. Apparently not enough staff to run any longer.

Davis-Monthan is destroying their heritage. Just read where the U2 that was a primary aircraft at DM in the 60's has been dismantled and sent to Hill AFB. This is after DM destroyed a historic B-52 used in the Vietnam War. What is going to be next, removing the F4, F105, A-7. Surely not the A-10, but who knows where this is going to end.

To be truthful, we only visited the Commissary, Exchange and the Gas Station.They all seemed very well organized, clean and streamlined tidy. From a veteran non-resident's point of view, the Air Force bases located in the desert all seem the same. But, worth checking out for gas, food and/or lodging, if you have the access!
