The dusty monk is no longer the dusty monk. The venue is still in the same old place but is now being operated by another vendor, the owner of tall boys bar that was once located on Congress. It still looks interesting, but it's not the same.

I meet friends in this lovely spot often! This is my favorite place to eat. I go there frequently. The meals are excellent, the crew is helpful and the charge is fair. I enjoy eating in this restaurant for a good meal.

Great little piano bar, with a fantastic night of piano karaoke. Bring your own sheet music, or look through the books they have. Great time.

The Dusty Monk is a cozy spot with a dive-bar feel in the historic Presidio area. It's part of the La Cocina restaurant and courtyard, and you can order from the full menu in here. Sit at the bar, at low-top tables, or on the patio -- there are plenty of seating options for it being a small place. I enjoy the Cape Kolka (vodka, cranberry, balsam, lime, simple syrup) and Empress Gin & Tonic (which is a gorgeous translucent purple color). They also have a good selection of local and non-local beer, usually including a cider option, which I appreciate. For entertainment, there's a bumper pool table and a piano with live music some nights. A friendly, talented pianist plays, and anyone can come up and sing karaoke using his sheet music. I've seen people who seem to be regulars perform classic songs and Broadway tunes. This is definitely the kind of place that seems to cater to regulars, but service is pretty friendly, regular or not. Love having a place like this downtown!

I reached out to La Cocina to see about hosting an event here for about 40 people. While so many places in town were super strict about meeting quotas and fees upon fees, La Cocina worked so well with my group. Very fair prices and their food was good. They kept on changing out food and provided us with chips, salsa, hummus plate with veggies and pita, quesadillas (both plain and chicken) and finished off with a nice platter). They had the full no host bar available so everyone could enjoy their favorite drink. I would love to host something here again. FYI: it can get a little warm inside, but sitting in the patio for a few minutes in October with a beer in hand makes it extra nice.
