Poor quality very overpriced.worst Hawaiian food I’ve had so far and most expensive service wasn’t bad
I’m sorry but this is the worse chicken katsu I’ve ever tasted. Overcooked and the crust taste bad. The Katsu sauce taste like ketchup. Try Ono or Aloha Hawaiian in Phoenix and you will understand what I mean.
I loved the location that used to be on cortaro and Ina! I don't know type of chicken they use now, but it was rubbery and when you bite into it the texture feels raw... It wasn't! don't get me wrong. Its what I like to call it the Tyson chicken. It could have just been that day but I would just do the pulled pork with two scoops of white rice! :) tables where sticky! like if the wax from the tables was coming off. I'm coming back! sorry for the three stars! just little things that troubled me personally!
The food is excellent! The cashier that took our order was very friendly and helpful. They also offer Tofu and Fish if you're not a "meat" eater.
Parking: Lot's of parking available.
Not even close to Hawaiian food. Chicken was not cooked in the sauce. Wasn't shoyu sauce. Beef wasn't the right beef. And kalua pork is cheap Walmart brand pork with no flavor. Mac salad was wrong and rice was overcooked
I'm from Maui, Hawai'i. This food is disgusting, sorry y'all. There's so much about the flavor and cooking that's wrong, I don't have the energy to type it all. I'm seriously tired of disappointing and rip off Hawaiian food on the mainland. I've only found two places in Arizona that do it right. And that's Aloha Kitchen and Hawaiian BBQ in PHX. Those owners are from the islands and keep the sourcing, flavors, and cooking true to their word/marketing.
The food was comforting and fun. My husband had the lomo it was tasty. Eggs a little over done. I had the pork and ribs. Both very tasty. We enjoyed our meal and will come back.
My plate (teriyaki beef, brown rice, fries) came out cold due to a new cook but was still very flavorful. Would definitely give another try, just don't skimp on the spring rolls!
The Teriyaki Beef was dry and cold. Tasted like it came out of a box. The fries were warm but unseasoned. The macaroni salad tasted like it was out a grocery store deli.
Great, great food at amazingly sky high prices. :-(Ordered Locomoco and a side. WHY did a hamburger and egg cost over $17.00!?! Granted, the food is delicious but the prices are completely bad, awful, and outrageous!
Restaurantji Recommends
Service in taking and delivering our orders was good and friendly. But, the food was not well prepared and the place overall needs an update and good cleaning. We tried the Chicken Katsu, Kale Short Ribs and Teriyaki Chicken.
The worst Hawaiian food I've ever had. The kalua pork was just boiled pork. Had almost no flavor. Just pork and water. The katsu chicken was the blandest food I've ever had. It was blander than the white rice. It was like the chicken was boiled, then they put the katsu batter, and deep fried it. But because of how they did it, it had absolutely no flavor. The place was really unkempt. The black and white chairs are brown from how dirty they are. Every single table was rich and sticky with grime. It was disgusting. I have no idea how this place has so much business with how nasty it is. Solid Grindz across town is ten times better, cleaner, tastier, and cheaper. I recommend the drive to the east side for Solid Grindz. Don't come here to Mama's.
The Loco Moco is the only thing I ever get here, unfortunately the "Two scoops of white rice" is now closer to 3/4th of one scoop. You used to be able to get 2 meals out of this but now I'm left hungry. New Staff is very nice but the previous female staff made way better food at much better portions.Good if you're nearby, but no longer worth going out of your way for.
Walked in and it was very cooled had to be in the 60's, had to go out and get my sweater. The place hand zero atmosphere, the tables were old and not very clean. I had the Hawaiian teriyaki grilled chicken, which was okay, two other had the pork sandwich and teriyaki chicken, we all agreed it wasn't the best. The staff was friendly. We will not be back.
Food was simple but good a good balance of flavor, and you can't beat the price. Employees are kind and considerate. Very clean establishment. Owner is clearly a U of A fan, decor could be a little more.
