Really disappointed, ordered a dinamite roll, spicy tuna roll and a miso soup. Basic rolls. The soup was $2,75 and contained half in the container, it was tasty though. However the rolls had absolutely no taste and the fish wasn’t fresh. Couldn’t finish my food. I was sick the next morning.

Just order for pickup from this small sushi place in Snug Cove. Food was ok, but the service is aloof and the tables aren’t set up well.

There is a couple of tables, but it's mostly take out. The sushi and sashimi portions are bigger than you'd get in the greater Vancouver area and much tastier as I found the rice filler was not as big and therefore you could taste the rest of the food involved. Also, it was a very friendly place and I really enjoyed what I ordered. I'd go again. I also ordered bowls of food for my friends and they also really enjoyed it. We did take out and I'll go back for more again.

Would recommend. Sushi made fresh and quickly! Nice atmosphere, service was excellent, and very easy to get to in town.

Great sushi every time. I was here a few years ago, and glad I came back. Excellent sushi. Been here twice this week, and will keep coming back. Yesterday, was dine in, today is take away. This place does get slammed, so be prepared to wait. If you get in, or can order right away, make sure you take advantage.

A quaint little spot with a few shops around to wander while we waited for our order. The sushi chef was kind and knowledgeable and we appreciated his attention to detail.

Not sure if it's new owners but was expecting sooooo much better after reading the reviews. Probably the worse sushi I have ever had. Couldn't eat the tempura or the crunch roll.. would not recommend

I lived on Bowen for several years, and the enduring highlight of my time on the island was frequenting John's magnificent restaurant. We were well acquainted with Sushi before moving to the island, as it was practically a staple when we lived in Vancouver, and John's skills were certainly equal to the standard set in the city. Every visit was a pleasure, as John is not only a very accommodating host, he is also held in particularly high regard by the local community for his gentle, generous, and kind nature. Now that we've moved from the island, we dearly miss seeing our good friend John, and eating at his fabulous restaurant.

This is quite possibly some of the worst sushi I've ever had in my life - I honestly have no idea now anybody could find the food here even palatable. Ordered a veg box, and it took almost 45 minutes to make for takeout. Once I opened it, what awaited me was possibly one of the saddest, most unappetizing things I've ever seen. Firstly, the box came with some fruit, but because it was placed in a container with cooked food, the fruit steamed... not sure why putting the fruit in a separate box is such a difficult concept to grasp. Secondly, I wasn't aware it was possible to screw up vegetable teriyaki, but I was proven wrong. Thirdly, I had the most disgusting yam tempura rolls (something I also didn't realize was possible to screw up) ever from this restaurant. For some reason, the chef put soggy lettuce in the sushi... which was barely even rolled properly. The rolls completely fell apart when picked up. Also they were bland and almost inedible. I also started to feel sick after eating here, which probably has to do with the hygiene of this place. The sushi chef would prepare food, answer the phone, and then use the till with the same pair of plastic gloves... like what the heck. I have no idea how this place gets business. Probably due to the fact it's the only sushi restaurant on the island...
