Spacious dining room and patio in a beautiful setting overlooking the vineyard. Excellent service and superb food. We loved the Seared Tuna, Bison burger, Polenta and Gorgonzola Pear Flatbread. Also enjoyed a flight of red wines - full bodied and soulful selections.

Nice bike ride out to Church and State to enjoy the view, the Voigner and charcuterie.

Don’t bother making a reservation. Made a reservation days in advance for a date at the bistro. Drove 45 minutes to get here, and was honestly really excited. They accepted my reso at the door and made no mention of the fact that the bistro was closed. I was only told once our server came that the bistro that I made the reso for was closed and there was nothing they could do besides wine and snacks. I would not have made the drive or I would have picked somewhere else ahead of time had I been informed. Now I have to drive 45 minutes back home hungry.

We went to the Victoria Butterfly Gardens and then went to the Church & State bistro for lunch. Delicious! I had the seafood stew which was Outstanding. My husband had a pizza which he said was excellent…I could not try a piece as I can’t eat gluten. The view from our deck table was incredible. The staff was friendly, helpful and very competent. I highly recommend!

Church and State Winery is truly one of my favourite wedding venues on Vancouver Island. Just minutes from downtown Victoria, it offers everything a couple (and a photographer) could hope for: sweeping vineyard views, beautiful natural light, and a perfect mix of elegance and West Coast charm.

From intimate ceremonies in the courtyard to golden-hour portraits among the vines, every corner of this venue feels like it was designed for unforgettable wedding photos. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely care about creating a seamless experience for couples and their guests.

As a photographer, I always look forward to shooting here. The scenery changes beautifully with the seasons, the sunsets are breathtaking, and every wedding I’ve captured at Church and State Winery has been a joy from start to finish.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but the service here was so bad I felt compelled to say something. From the moment I arrived, it felt like I was being ignored. Our server Megan was unfriendly and seemed more interested in being on the computer than helping customers. unprofessional and dismissive. Definitely not worth the time or money. I won’t be coming back despite the food being good and the wine being decent.

Horrible service. The server Sara was hung over and could barely speak. She over charged my credit card by an extra $40. When I asked the manager Paul to resolve the issue, he told me that he refunded the original amount and recharged the my credit card. I never got the refund but definitely got the recharge. This place is a total scam.

A date night ruined by being ignored. My fiancé and I planned a date night at this winery , wanting to support local and take in some of the picturesque views ,and sample some of their wines . We reserved a table for 6 pm and arrived a little early . Upon our arrival , we were greeted warmly by what we presumed was the maitre'd . We took a table on the outside deck overlooking the beautiful view of the vineyard and mountains in the distance. We were brought some water and menu and wine list and then proceeded to sit there for about 20 minutes, totally ignored like we weren't even there..we found this funny because it wasn't very busy. There was a waiter who looked like he didn't want to be there serving tables of other diners in our section, but not even response to us or any acknowledgement that we were there. This made us feel quite uncomfortable . While we waited some time for any acknowledgement ,a family in the next section a few tables over were seated and served pretty much immediately , making us feel very overlooked , like there was something wrong with us. We just looked at each other and decided enough and got up and left...still being ignored upon our departure....just as well as we found a quaint , warm and inviting romantic little gem , at Deep Cove , where the service was great and we were made to feel most welcome ...also there was soft music playing that made the ambiance most pleasant...there was no background music of any kind at Church and State, which made the venue feel cold and uninviting...at least we felt that way. So now we have found a local winery that we will be going back to...funny how things work out sometimes . Thank you for reading...we don't feel good about saying negative things but our experience compelled us to write this review...

I knew I wanted to go to at least one winery in BC while we were on Vancouver Island, and I am so happy we chose this one! The facility is really rustic but tastefully done and well decorated and laid out. The porch is perfect for dining even on hot days due to the breeze and shade. The meals are VERY delicious too! I had the smoked fish board, which was more than enough as a meal. I also had the white wine tasting flight. I can honestly say this winery had the best Canadian wines we have tried while on the trip. We bought many different types at the local liquor stores and none of them were as good as Church and State. Very happy to have visited!

Excellent restaurant with really great food! We had pizza, seafood linguine, tacos, bison burger, and chacuterie board. All were very good!!! Their white wines were tasty as well. Especially enjoyed the Viognier!

Cute Skinks in the parking lot

Delicious food (bouillabaisse and seafood linguine), beautiful and peaceful venue, great hosts - what more could we ask for. My only reluctance with this review is selfish in that it might make it harder to get into in the future. The secret is out.
