Church & State Wines - Victoria

We had a fantastic event today at Church and State Wines! We had perfect weather for our 1st Italian Car and Motorbike Show and Shine on the beautiful back lawn. The food and wine was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and professional. Grant was very accommodating and we appreciated all he did for us. Highly recommend Church and State Wines!

Lovely patio on a mild afternoon in central saanich. The food was excellent and the service prompt and very helpful. I will definitely be returning.

A perfect dinner for two! We shared a bottle of Church & State chardonnay, the fungi pizza, and the charred artichoke small plate - it was all delicious. The setting is gorgeous, the ambiance relaxing. We will be back!

Enjoyed the Terroir tasting flight here on the beautiful outdoor patio! Our server was lovely and did a great job explaining what we were sampling. Such a beautiful property!

My first experience dining here with my sister and neice on May 24/2025. The waitress was a gem, the chef really understands a complex palette and the manger is delightfully professional. We had the seafood linguine and it was the best I've ever enjoyed. The heated and enclosed balcony allowed you to stay warm, bug free and enjoy the gorgeous winery grounds with fountain ponds. Great parking and we will be back often. It's rare to have a full service; management, chef, server, inside atmospher, view, and parking all in one place. Thank you for the great lunch experience!

Surprised my wife with a trip to church and state. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks Sarah! Had a beautiful glass of wine with charcuterie on the patio overlooking the vineyard. Perfect!

Was so nice coming in here yesterday, the staff were all happy and went above and beyond to make our experience amazing. The food is absolutely delicious and the wines are amazing would 10/10 recommend coming here for a lunch i personally had the clams and mussels,
we’re just visiting for the weekend but this is definitely a stop for next time we are on the island!

The location of this restaurant is truly stunning – the views are breathtaking and create a beautiful atmosphere for dining. Most food was also good albeit inconsistent. The sparkling wine was nice.

Unfortunately, the service didn’t live up to the rest of the experience. Two staff members in particular, a blonde woman and a dark haired man at the bar who interacted with our party, spoke to us in a surprisingly rude and unprofessional way. It was disappointing, especially given the upscale ambiance the restaurant seems to strive for. The tone felt more fitting for a late-night bar full of rowdy clientele than a fine dining environment.

Overall, the scenery, food and wine are worth a visit, but the management might want to consider investing more in training or staffing to ensure the service matches the rest of what they have to offer.

Lovely venue and decent wine, it's too bad that the service, and the curt attitude of the wait staff can completely ruin the experience. My family and I left with a bad taste in our mouth after the way we were spoken to and dismissed. It's too bad staff aren't trained on service, class, and professional client facing communication - I had high hopes but won't be going back.

Visited here for my birthday. Greeted by a clearly over-worked, annoyed employee. Besides the decorations of empty, dirty wine glasses littering the tasting bar, it was a mediocre experience at best. We visited here 6 years ago and remember it being memorable enough that we wanted to return.
Not today. Sat for 20 mins before anyone asked us about ordering food. Wine was just ok. Food was cold and undercooked. It All employees racing around busy, afraid to make eye contact that we would ask for something.
Disappointing.

Beautiful, amazing food and drinks

I’ve been here 3 times and the first two were fairly good except we typically have to wait at least 10 minutes before someone comes to check us in. The last time I was there was on August 1st. I fully understand weddings are a thing but maybe say so on your website or through an email? We only had 45 minutes before we were gonna be asked to leave so we were extremely rushed. Also, the kitchen was closed for the wedding, so we were gonna order the delicious spinach dip but we couldn’t. It was just really disappointing :(. I definitely think I would give it another try but hopefully the service is better and hopefully there isn’t a wedding…

My girlfriends and I had an amazing dining experience at C&SW last week. The food was delicious and presented like a work of art! The 'pure to BC' sparkling Pinot Gris paired beautifully with our selections and the service was beyond expectations covering every detail we had hoped for for this double birthday celebration! As we sat outside on the shaded deck on that hot afternoon we looked out over the vineyard and shared a thought that we could be any place in the world for the view, the wine and food but here we are and it's all right in our backyard! Thank you to the staff at C&SW for a wonderful afternoon!

I have nothing but great things to say about the winery and staff here at Church and State. My fiancé and I got engaged here-- the staff were super kind and went above and beyond my expectations to help make it a special day, including keeping the secret and being incredibly excited and happy for us afterwards! The effort all the staff put in really made our day extraordinary. It certainly helps that the wine and food were top notch, which was the cherry on top of our experience. Needless to say, we will visit anytime we find ourselves in Victoria and are considering hosting the wedding here too!
