Good food…but….Refused to split our bill even though we ordered separate dishes. Serving staff was quite disrespectful. They got my order wrong. They made us split our bill on our own. Everything that can go wrong will go wrong at dinesty dumpling house.

Like others have said, awful service. We waited for over an hour for our order while multiple tables sat after us were fed. Manager / staff were dismissive when we spoke with them and made it like they were the ones wronged. Still took multiple times to get our meal served - huge disappointment considering this never happened at the downtown location.

Dumplings are delicious, and the other dishes are decent. Service is quick and efficient.

Kitchen service is quick which reflects on the food. It's tasty but just feels like it's slapped together and thrown on the plate. Can't go wrong with the XLB. This restaurant tends to get pretty noisy.

Service was good. But the food quality and tastes were terrible. The noodles were half cold. The restaurant environment is not clean, and ladies room is disgusting. The toilet flush doesn’t work. Won’t come back again.

This place gives me a different vibe each time… sometimes I felt like I was getting Taiwanese level of service, so warm and attentive but today it really sucked!!! Especially this emo gal who didn’t feel like responding at all. What’s worse is, as we were leaving today she purposely avoided eye contact and just didn’t wanna say thank-you or bye… what the hell did I even tip you for?? I already asked nicely for tea and extra utensils!!

I sincerely hope management would try to recruit some Taiwanese service staff because I would pay more for Din Tai Fung!!!!

Fast and friendly-enough service, clean restaurant with nice surroundings. Good value in the food with lots of menu choices. There’s definitely something for everyone but you need to order their signature item “XLB!” I’ve been to this chain restaurant in Richmond, and Vancouver locations and found this Burnaby location consistent with the others. Good solid place if you’re craving Shanghai food.

I can’t seem to find what’s wrong with this place. Food is delicious, service is fine and generally every time I visit this place, the food is consistently the same quality (good).

A great restaurant in terms of taste and flavour, just misrepresented on media.

Service complaints are kinda normal but that feels kind of strange.

We went for dinner with elderly family members, and the service was very poor.

Seven of us were given three small tables and told to squeeze in. When we asked for an extra table, the senior waiter said they first needed to see how many dishes we ordered. Only after we insisted did she add a table, which stayed unused by anyone else the whole evening.

Very disappointing and embarrassing in front of our guests—I won’t be returning.

This was our first visit to the restaurant, and unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. We were very disappointed with the overall food quality.

The Noodles with Meat Sauce were overly salty and lacked depth of flavor.

The Ribbon Fish arrived hot and crispy, but again, the salt level was overwhelming—so much so that we couldn't taste the fish at all, only salt.

The Pork in Brown Sauce with Buns was the most disappointing dish. The meat was extremely fatty and bland, as if it had just been boiled and topped with a flavorless brown sauce. It lacked the richness and seasoning expected from this classic dish.

The only item that was remotely acceptable was the Hot & Sour Soup, which was just average.

We came looking for a relaxing and authentic Shanghainese dining experience, but instead left with a mouthful of salt and a strong need for water. We check out with all the food untouched on the table. Overall, a very disappointing experience.
