Absolutely greatest quality of sushi for the $$ in Burnaby by far

Went there two times, the place is good. I decided to go today, there was this note written on the door that says they are closed for 4 days. While on google maps it showed they are open, at least change your timings to ‘temporarily closed’, such a waste of time.

This is a cozy Japanese restaurant that I went to after being recommended by a Japanese friend!
Although the restaurant is small, there are plenty of places to sit and it seemed perfect for eating alone or with two people!
For food, I had sushi rolls and tempura udon, and it was clean and delicious!
The staff were all friendly, and it was interesting to be able to see sushi being made at the sushi bar.
If you are looking for a quiet, cozy, and clean Japanese restaurant, I recommend this place!!

The daily specials are amazingly fresh and this place is legitimately Japanese. Sure, Stem, Minami, Tozen, Guu or Sushihil are the top sushi/Japanese places in the lower mainland but l'd argue that Isami's food quality is just as good. The difference is they just don't have a social media presence or honestly care about their reviews. Their presentation is basic but it's a true hidden gem. The interior looks a little dated on the inside but my wife and I love this place.
Reminded us of real Japanese restaurants in Japan, homey and delicious. Get their ootoro, wagyu nigiri or uni and tell me it isn't on par with the freshness you'd get from the more expensive places in Vancouver, you'd be lying. This place is awesome, arigato gozaimasu, Isami!!!

Just came back from a trip to Japan and this place felt pretty close to what I've tasted and experienced there. Only down side are the vancouver prices which is understandable. Their karrage was delicious and the tonkatsu Don was filling ! Will definitely come back !

Very good sushi arguably top 3 in all of metro vancouver. Service is good but at times slow. Highly recommend the food!

Waited almost 30 mins to get my phone take out order for 2 simple rolls with poor presentation and avg taste.
Called at 12:07 and was told the food will be ready in 5 mins. I even repeated 5 mins seems to be quick and they confirmed. Arrived approx 15 mins later and was told I had to wait another 10 mins when the restaurant is mostly empty.
The food seems to be prepared in a hurry and they almost forgot my miso soup.
Finally got my food around 12:35 ish.
Disappointed in the presentation and service. Flavor is average, seafood taste too mushy.

Traditional atmosphere...real Japanese staff and owner... Authentic... Just wished the proportions were a little bit more.... It was yummy though ;). My menu prices as of end of Aug/2024

I had a disappointing experience at this sushi spot. The quality of the sushi was below average, and I felt stomach discomfort afterward. Additionally, the service left much to be desired—the servers and chefs both appeared unhappy and unenthusiastic. I would recommend Taiyu Ichiba nearby, which offers a much better experience.
Our experience at this sushi restaurant was disappointing. The quality of the sushi was below average and I felt some stomach discomfort after eating it. Additionally, the service was dissatisfying, with both the staff and the chef looking grumpy and unmotivated. A much better experience can be found at the nearby Tairyo Market.

Very good food, nice staff and comfortable seats! Average pricing but above average taste and care. Unatama roll was my favorite here.

Some food is good and some food are just so so.
Una-ju is great but the roll was not good. The servers were very busy so it's very hard to get their attention.
No free parking outside (there's a parking lot but the gate is always closed)
