We spent a wonderful evening at Sushi Oyama! Located at the second floor of a hundred-year old heritage building, cozy lighting, Christmas decoration, attentive service of the waitress provided a pleasant atmosphere for casual dinning. Their menu has a variety of many choices. We love to go back again to try out other items.

Was in BC for a few days, visited 4 restaurants all walking distance from each other. Although all of them were great….Sushi Oyama was our favourite. So good!

The food and atmosphere are great, but I was disappointed with the customer service on my second visit. I arrived at 8:55 PM on a Saturday and placed my order at 9:00 (or just before, according to the staff).
They offer a 15% happy hour discount on Saturdays from 9:00 to 10:30 PM.

After paying, I noticed the discount hadn’t been applied, so I politely asked about it. The staff explained that my order was placed a few minutes before 9:00, so I didn’t qualify, which came across as quite harsh. I found it disappointing that they weren’t willing to make a small exception, especially for such a minor timing difference. It left an unfortunate impression after what was otherwise a nice experience.

Had the lunch box here. The sashimi and nigiri were quite large, though the flavor could have been better. The tempura and rolls were a bit soggy. Overall, it might be a good option if you’re not too particular about Japanese food and just want a filling meal. Personally, I might try somewhere else next time.

I love this place so much! I go to therapy nearby and also my Lash girl is just around the corner so it’s super convenient to get some AMAZING sushi! They have great portions, prices for the quality and size of food! I HIGHLY recommend this place anytime you’re craving good sushi, and there’s an amazing amount of space and tables! Thanks for all the good food ❤️

Came in the $15 ramen and gyoza combo - large portions - good bang for the buck

Beautiful atmosphere. The food was really good too! A bit pricier than other sushi restaurants but the quality more than made up for it.

Ordered a few dishes including house roll. The salmon inside the house roll tasted stale. The taste you get when salmon is about to go bad. The waitress is kind enough to take house roll out of the bill after we sent the dish back to the kitchen. The rest of the food is ok

The restaurant is in an old/heritage building, which looks well maintained and attractive. There's a lot of potential for a restaurant in this space and location.

The food is below average. Greater Vancouver is blessed with many great Japanese restaurants and the average quality is very high. The rolls and sushi we had were very underwhelming at Oyama. Fish quality was not the best. Service was also below average.

During our visit, there was a hint of urinal cake/deodorizer smell near our table. The food rating is independent of this odor.

With many great options available, I don't recommend this restaurant.

This restaurant is inside a historic heritage building. I thought it was cool. There’s also a free parkade to the side.

As for the sushi, it's decent. Not mind blowing, but it’s tasty and delicious.
Just don't order the sushi pizza or deep fried California roll... 😑

Would I come back again? Oh for sure.

We used to be regular customers for many years, but the last few times we ordered, we noticed a serious decline in quality. We stopped ordering for a while and decided to give it another try after several months… but it was a major disappointment.
Most of the rolls are filled with cucumber just to bulk them up. The tuna sashimi was poorly cut, had a bad texture and taste definitely not fresh. The rolls completely fall apart when you pick them up, and the shrimp inside one of the rolls was so dry it was impossible to chew.
A really unpleasant experience. It’s a shame to see how much this place has gone downhill. We won’t be coming back

5/5 Beef Yakisoba

-Portion is bigger than it looks
-Lots of beef (they really don't skimp out)
And the quality tasted surprisingly tender
-Served sizzling like a show on a cast iron pan

Atmosphere is very nice & clean
Server is very attentive, welcoming & accommodating
