Phenomenal!... I have eaten at o-Sushi-ya all over the world. Tokyo, New York, Honolulu, San Francisco; and outside of Japan, this is the best. From the briny ponzu kissed Miyagi oysters to the rich and deep-nuanced Chawan-mushi to the creamy smooth Yamaimo drizzled Maguro to the perfectly done butter-soy grilled fresh local squid - all were the best I have had. Then to finish, the matcha, fruit, lychee kanten and ahn parfait was light, sweet perfection.

This low-key restaurant really surprised us and it's a small little place of a gem. If you're a man who is reading this and is selecting a place for a date, this is the restaurant to book for that special someone! If you book on a weekday, you will usually have a private setting with little to no people or distractions. Great food, and great chats with the Japanese chefs if wanted too. My partner and I enjoyed some GOOD fish - we had the Sashimi Omakase with fresh fish from Japan which is rare to find anywhere, along with some other small goods. Really love how the plates came with a cute little basket full of green onion and finely chopped up ginger to mix in with the soy sauce which was amazing as it gave every tuna bite that great big boost of oishii! But being in the moment and the presence of my man at this restaurant was the best catch of the day ??

Was pleasantly surprised by Toyo sushi. Walked in a sat at the sushi bar. Fresh product, great sushi, tempura and selection of fish. Sitting at the sushi bar was a blast as the chef was on his game. Definitely a high rating and recommendation for anyone looking for some high quality, reasonably priced sushi.

Best Japanese food and Sashimi that I have tried in Vancouver!! It’s a small but cozy restaurant. Don’t let how the store front look fooled you, the food was really tasty and authentic. We had the chef’s Omakase and other hot dishes, the ingredients were very fresh and the flavour was ???. We spent around $150 per person that night. Highly recommend even at the price point.Parking: Street parking readily available

Great hidden gem in Burnaby North. They offer Omakase Nigiri and Sashimi. They have many specialty fish selections on their daily menu that changes different from what is listed online. The one negative is they do not have much in terms of sushi rolls to select from. If you are looking for California or Dynamite you will need to look elsewhere.

Simply put, this is the most amazing sushi, sashimi and otsumami you will ever experience. The sushi chefs are true masters, the wide selection of traditional dishes is astounding, the fish (some of which is flown in from Japan) is world-class and expertly prepared, and the service is the most gracious, welcoming, and efficient that I have ever encountered. The atmosphere is similar to what you would find in a neighborhood sushi restaurant in Tokyo — warm, cozy and charming. I have consumed sushi at many of the top-rated sushi restaurants in the world, and I have to say, this one outdoes them all. Plus, there's a great sake selection!

I have been here twice, first on a weekend and second on a weekday night. It was a great experience on both times! I highly recommend calling in for a reservation on the weekend because it's a small place that fills up quickly.Food - so far we've Miso soup, Tsukune, Chicken Karaage, Negitoro toll, Spicy Tuna roll, Salmon oshi, and Salmon Ebi oshi; everything was fresh and delicious, and the portions were decent for the price point. My fave was the Tsukune and Spicy Tuna roll!Service - The servers and the chefs were very friendly and accommodating. Since we sat down at the bar both times; the chefs constantly check-in on us with how we're liking the food.Atmosphere - It is a small place with limited seats, but it's warm, cozy, has simple decor, and very clean

Fresh sushi. It is run by Japanese so they don't have many choices for special rolls.

Love this authentic Japanese restaurant. Everything is fresh and delicious. I always get the omakase sashimi where they take the shrimp shells and deep fry it, too. Be sure to make reservations before going as they tend to get quite busy even on weeknights!
