I used to go to this place years ago. Back then it was a great place. Yesterday I went back. It’s now a dump. The fried chicken from yrs ago has now evolved into 1/2” thick coated legs only. No thighs of breast. Just overall a disgusting place for $20

Beautiful restaurant with good variety of foods. From curry, pastas, salads, sushi, to roast beef dinner. Their $30 price includes drinks like coffee, tea, or soda, and also their endless desserts and ice cream!
Lovely, informative staff that helped me and my partner who are newcomers. We will definitely be returning. They deserve higher stars on google! Thank you.

Nostalgic. Good food at good prices. It’s not 5 star buffet, more like 3 star hotel quality level buffet. But price is more than fair. Will be back when HUNGRY!

We arrived on a Friday night around 7pm and were warmly greeted by who I imagine is the owner. There were only about 4 other groups at the time. The dining area is huge and kept very clean. It's just under $30 and includes drinks. Beginning with my favourites, what they labeled as BBQ chicken was some of the most delicious chicken I've ever tasted. I had two thighs and they were juicy and perfectly seasoned. The roast beef was also awesome, as was the gravy. I love how they seasoned their food. Salmon was tasty but lukewarm. String beans were awesome. Sweet and sour pork was cold. Fries, potato wedges and corn were all gross and cold. My son really liked the fried chicken.
I don't know what it would be like if you visited just as they open and everything is fresh.
Employees were friendly. Restrooms clean.

We tried this place for a birthday dinner.

Uncle Willy’s is one of the OGs of buffet dining. It has a decent spread for the price. I liked that it was old school yet clean.

There weren’t too many customers when we arrived, but the buffet had a good variety of options to choose from. We were happy to see fried chicken and roast beef in the meat section, both were good. The roast beef was flavorful and tender, served with brown gravy.

Service was prompt. The washrooms were clean and spacious. It’s conveniently located on Kingsway, near Metrotown.

We paid $185 for five adults and two kids, including tip.

We’ll definitely be back.

Ok, if anyone thinks they are going to a fine dining establishment you’re wrong. It’s an old time buffet restaurant. The variety was good and the food was hot. Is it 5 star worthy? No but it is good. The fried chicken was excellent and the perogies were very good. Nice variety of salads and desert. As far as buffets go it’s pretty tasty. At $21 for a Senior the price was good. The place is very clean and that is a plus. The people who are working here are delightful. The gentleman who took my money was personable and pleasant. The man who is clearing table has a great attitude and was very friendly.
So …… If you are looking for a Vegas style lavish buffet keep looking. If you want good non pretentious food that will fill you then this is a good place to go.

I don’t think this place deserves the current 3.2 star rating. This is a fixture of Vancouver food history, that had 14 locations during their prime. I would hate to see it disappear.

My parents and even grandparents used to take us here when we were little and I decided to bring my kids here to try it out.

They had a blast 🤣

It’s not fine dining, but it is still a fun place to bring the family. I’d say the food is consistent from what I remember as a kid, some items aren’t for me, but I’d say I could find an enjoyable meal from 80-90% of the choices. Notable items I liked: fried chicken, salmon, eggplant. Kids really liked the fries, pancake, bread pudding, soft serve, macaroni and cheese. Try the pancakes with soft serve on top.

Also, watch the kitchen doors, when fresh hot chow comes out, it is the best.

They are struggling post covid (food inflation costs, labour costs etc), and the construction in the area isn’t helping. I feel bad, but I hope this place sticks around. Uncle Arthur (one of the partners) was running the cashier this visit, and I remember him from when I was little. He greeted my family with a warm smile that seemed sincere and I had a huge hit of nostalgia when I saw him.

I want to see Uncle Willy’s do well, it’s not perfect, and may be tough for it to return to its former glory that it saw during the late 90s, I don’t want it to go away.

I hope local food critics can provide the some ideas to help turn the place around again ☺️

I've been wanting to try this buffet whenever we pass it on the way to Metrotown. The food is okay, not great, but there's a lot of variety like sushi, spaghetti, shepherd's pie, Chinese (chow mein, fried rice, sweet and sour pork, etc.), orange slices, taco makings, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, a few cake varieties, soft serve, pop, coffee, hot chocolate, and probably other things I forgot about. Yet it still feels lacking, though the only other buffets I specifically remember were in Vegas. The coffee, hot chocolate and soft serve is hidden away around a corner passed the soft drinks.

It's not something I'd ever crave the food of but I'd go back for a cheap, filling meal with variety. I don't understand why, but people seem to DoorDash it.

There were a lot of empty tables on a Saturday so I can't imagine there's ever an issue finding seating except maybe on a holiday if they're open. They regularly come around to take dirty dishes but the bathroom floor is freshly pissed on for a free coat of anti-anti-slip on your sneakers.

Two SENIORS going for lunch on a Tuesday. Discovered 10% off for seniors. Upon reviewing receipt while eating, discovered no 10% off was given as sign said (Seniors Monday & Tuesday) and a $5 tip put on.
Was not busy so could have been communicated to us. And as usual few salt and peppers on tables.
Buffet was sub par (not going back).
