Satellite Bar & Grille at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club

I'm truly disappointed by our experience today. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we were seated beside a group of 25 plus at least it seemed that way since the group was large and loud. I'm not blaming them, I'm blaming the staff who placed us there. It was very unpleasant. My daughter takes lessons here, and we're regular patrons, so it's disheartening to feel consistently mistreated—especially by one particular staff member who seems to recognize our reservation name. It's hard not to wonder if this is intentional. It saddens me, because this is genuinely a great place, and I continue to support it despite these negative experiences. Am I crazy for still coming back? Hope someone would care enough to contact us and talk with us. I need nothing in return given I'm pre booked for 5 months of Golf lessons for my daughter. MD

My husband & I were celebrating our *42nd wedding anniversary*, since we have been to this Satellite Bar & Grille Restaurant quite a few times, I booked a few days before, through OPEN TABLE for an early dinner at a table next to the window, with a beautiful view of the golf course and mountains..VERY lovely! Our meals: the Pork Schnitzel, and Lamb shank with polenta were delicious! We ended off our night with 2 very delicious desserts, Pecan Pie and Chocolate Lava cake. mmmm...yummy. our server was Darcy very friendly and efficient . Thank you for making our celebration tonight a smooth & delightful one. :))

The dish I ordered Pad Thai lacked any realistic flavor, the chicken, while moist was brown meat and the flavor not appropriate for the dish. Having had the same dish at many restaurants over the years it was sub-par at best. My dinner date had salad and chicken. The salad was fresh and crisp, the chicken breast, was almost like it had been reconstituted. Rubbery. We weren't looking for a freebie. We finished our meal and shared our comments with our server, prior to us finishing our wine , we were asked if we needed the machine, not if we would like anything else, and within minutes brought the bill. We felt like we were being rushed to leave.

We had a delightful meal last night at the Satellite Bar and Grill, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club. the food was perfectly cooked, hot and delicious.. we had the lamb shanks and kung pao chicken..yummy! Service was excellent as always!

Good reception. Seated promptly. Water & menus brought promptly by Mattie? Our dinners were brought in good time and everyone seemed happy. Fish and chips were very good. Too much salt on chips, fish was outstanding. Other menu items included vegetarian noodles, ridge burger, beef dip - all enjoyable. Great service by Emma.

I'm going to put this one down to not having enough staff members. We were sat down, given menus and then ignored for 20 minutes. People that came after us got to order their food. We left. Also, there are TV screens EVERYWHERE. And these are big. I tried looking at my partner but there was a TV screen directly behind her head that was very off-putting. No one was watching them. If we stayed longer I guess I could have asked them to turn them off.

This is a lovely place for lunch. Great parking and accessible to those with mobility problems. The view is amazing .

We really like this spot since we stay close by. The view is spectacular and the service and food are very good. They are a bit pricey but you get large portions so it is worth it (we always take home food).

I think the turkey died of old age it was so tough. The vegetables were raw rather than al dente. It was a 1 hour wait before our meal was served.

Wonderful ambience, fantastic service & Seafood Chowder was delicious. My friends had Halibut & Beef Dip, which they said was good, but they weren't raving about it. There was a good deal on a bottle of wine on a Tuesday evening.

We have been to this restaurant several times in the past three years, returning because the service has been very good, the menu selection quite extensive, the food preparation and presentation consistently excellent, and we always felt we were getting good value for fair prices. Our visit three days ago will likely be our last. The menu has been significantly reduced and even some items on the smaller menu were not available. It wasn't that they were sold out, but were explained as a mistake on the menu. Two of the food items we did choose were disappointing. The coq au vin consisted of three small drumsticks, some quite thick sauce and over cooked potato chunks - it wasn't the stew I expected. The Reuben was dried out, perhaps because it spent too much time on the grill, and the amount of smoked beef filling was "sparse". To accompany the smaller menu, prices have understandably increased. Our server was inexperienced, but then again, staff availability and competency seem to have become a common problem in the industry. It almost seems as if the Arbutus Ridge Golf Club wishes its facility to move away from providing a good restaurant experience (good food, good service, fair pricing in a spectacular location) to become a mediocre experience (still in a spectacular location). Perhaps I expect too much. After all, the eating area's name is Satellite Bar and Grille so I should realistically expect bar and grill(e) food, but the rub is that there are a number of pubs with spectacular views in the Cowichan Valley that have great food and service for reasonable prices. We'll now go there.

We were very pleased with the meal and the service. We had not been to this restaurant for a year because of disappointment with the last experience so were very pleased to see the improvements. We will definitely go back.

This review is for breakfast today, February 25, 2024. We all know that the cost of living has increased over the past years and we do understand that with increased costs as well as wages, the price on restaurant meals will have to increase. But....when you increase your price and then reduce what is on the plate that was there before... to find out now, that breakfast is served with only 1 piece of toast...and that extra piece will now cost. You really begin to feel that you are being nicked and dimed. There will be price point where consumers will reconsider their options for dining out. We have always enjoyed going to the Satellite Bar & Grill for dinner and for breakfast. However, we will now think twice about going there for breakfast again. There are other restaurant alternatives with better prices and food choices.

What a pleasant, quiet atmosphere! It was too dark already to enjoy the view, but parking was easy, and we were welcomed immediately upon entering. The menu offered some variety and a good selection of wines. We had a sirloin beautifully served at a bargain ($22) and a local Pinot Grigio. Because it was Sunday night there was no selection of desserts, but the cheesecake was excellent.

We arrived at the restaurant only to find that they had put a hold on all reservations including this app..... they are having staffing issues just like all the other restaurants and due to that it is day by day if the restaurant is open so luckily our one of our favorite waitress was there, but not sure I will trust the app to make further reservations
