Been to better Italian/Mediteranean restaurants. We had made a reservation, but little care was taken in giving us a decent seating. The restaurant was less than half full, but were still given a seat staring into the kitchen. In some cases this might be okay, but in this case it was not. You could see the chaos that ensued. I just had two appetizers which were passable (though the garlic shrimp were rather minimal!). My husband had a pasta entree which was a disaster. Obviously, the cook had never heard of 'al dente', the pasta was more along the lines of 'mush.' And arrabbiata with sausage should have some spiciness to it; this was sadly lacking! We put the problems with Toscana down to the fact is that it seems to be run by inexperienced young people.

The food was a mixed bag. The spicy lamb meatballs were fantastic. My wife loved her beet salad and pasta. I thought my pasta dish was pedestrian. Desert was supposed to be a chocolate mousse, however it tasted like a thick chocolate pudding. Atmosphere wasn't great and the noisy diners were so loud I couldn't carry on a conversation. The service was excellent so I bumped up their rating.

We were so excited to treat my parents to an Italian dinner for their birthday last night, and opted for Toscano's after seeing that Cuckoo's in Coombs was closed. We were the first table to arrive at Toscano's that night. Unfortunately, Toscano's did not meet the mark. We were disappointed on so many levels. First, we ordered the large focaccia bread as an appetizer - half of the focaccia was fresh and soft, while the other half was noticeably stale. We mentioned this to our server, who was inattentive at best, and he said he would talk to the kitchen but he never followed up nor did he bring us fresh focaccia. We specifically ordered a certain pasta dish because it was something that my Nonna used to make. We were brought the wrong dish (that was more expensive) but our server never returned to the table to check in with us, so eventually we just ate it.The pasta was exceptionally salty. We are a salt-loving family, but the salt was extreme. Yes we ordered a dish with capers, olives and feta, but there were so many capers that it was difficult to eat.We left with a lot of leftovers, because we didn't really care to finish. We also skipped dessert because we knew it would only lead to disappointment. I was shocked that we were charged for our stale focaccia, but because of our servers lackluster attitude I didn't bother mentioning it to him, I just wanted to pay and leave.Sadly we will not be returning to Toscano's. Cuckoo's is worth the drive from the Comox Valley.

Excellent food prepared very well. Try the Chicken on Polenta! And the Beet Salad. Small place, good atmosphere, and fair price.

What happened to this place? New owners? New chefs?? Not the same as it was even a year ago!,,, sand in my seafood dish, rotten mussell, tasteless broth… burnt veggies on my wife’s dish,,, gross. Thanks for

The food is very delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing. You can certainly impress your dinner date in here. I would have liked they included free garlic bread to start. Their prices are on the higher end.

They must have changed management since the pandemic. Went from 5/5 to 1/5. Tiny menu. No creativity. Only seafood is prawn. No Mediterranean influence... Way too

We originally intended to dine at “that pub” across the street but it was way busier than it deserved to be so we wandered up the street to Toscanos. SO GLAD WE DID! Very pleasant little restaurant with a fabulous assortment of pasta dishes. Very nice selection of wines as well. The service was great and the food was fantastic with very large portions. Our only critique was the music assaulting patrons. Our pleasant trattoria experience quickly turned into us feeling like we were in a sketchy bar that was serving cheap beer in dirty glasses while the same 5 awful blues songs were belted out waaaaay too loudly. Why?? We felt bad for the staff having to listen to that for their entire shift. It completely took away from the charm of a small local Italian eatery. We will definitely be back but, PLEASE, pick more appropriate music!! 2 stars off for ruining the atmosphere.

Visiting the Comox area we got to go in for a nice dinner. They were so great with us, especially since we had three toddlers. The very BEST part was the amazing food , the Pecan chicken was definitely one of the top dishes I have had in my many travels here and abroad . It was so very delicious. My husband had the Flat Iron steak and he said it was extremely delicious. The rest of the family had all different Pasta dishes and they all loved them. Not one complaint from all seven of us. (That never happens, lol ) They deserve more then 5 stars for the amazing food in my opinion . Can't wait to visit the island again sometime, so we can eat here again.

Amazing food, wow! First time vacationing on the Island and we made reservations on a tip from a friend of ours, so glad we did as our entire group had great meal. I had the flatiron steak, it was amazing! My wife had the pecan crusted chicken and she said it was one of the best meals she has ever tasted, the other guests with us had the pasta dishes Sausage penne and prawn carbonara that they described as being delicious. Needless to say we look forward to eating at Toscano's Mediterranean Grill again. I would recommend Toscano's if you're looking for a great food with amazing flavor's, make sure to reserve seating though.
