Hot enough to be Bigger? Passing by and noticed this place opened up not long ago in replacement of a previous Chinese restaurant. Curiosity sparked and decided to give it a try. It is located at the corner of Lougheed Hwy and North Road, same plaza as Insadong and Pho 99. The interior layout and setup is very similar to Big Way Hotpot, but I would say a lot less busy and less options. I went through and chose my meat, carbs and veggies. As for the soups, here were the soup bases I ordered; 1. Beef bone soup (non spicy). It was somewhat bland with a light sweet taste. I personally find the pork bone soup base to be always more flavourful. 2. Sichuan pepper broth. Besides the light spicy taste, the broth tasted a bit weak. Overall, the place was pretty clean with a casual vibe. The service was decently good and the server was quite attentive. As for the food compared to Big Way; less food and drink options here, the broths were weaker and more bland, and I don't know if it's me or what but appears to be slightly more expensive? Never got the free ice cream at the end like the cashier said I would get lol. P.S. I believe if the boss stop being so busy acting like a boss and let his employees attend to the customers, it might help score a few more repeat customers.

Great alternative to Big Way hotpot. Much more open space at this location and same setup. Super friendly staff and plenty of meat and veg options for all dietary preferences.

I am giving this place 5 stars for the excellent customer service provided by John (store manager). The bowl I ordered was too spicy for my liking but I will be back to try the dry mixes.

The beef broth here is perfect. It’s not too salty, rich in flavour, and smooth. However, despite the tomato broth having good flavour, it was way too salty and left you feeling extremely thirsty afterwards.Overall, the place is like a Big Way Hot Pot but with less selection, no free ice cream, and more expensive given you must reach a 1 pound minimum of around $20.00. The quail eggs tasted stale and they really overcook your seafood such that it shrinks. The rest of the ingredients were fresh enough though. My octopus was cooked to about 1/5 of its original size. Other than that, the food was good. Of note, their sauce bar does not have satay sauce which I think is a total staple for hot pot.Service is good enough. It can get very costly with a price higher than ayce hotpot as for the two of us after tip, it was a little over hundred dollars.

The place is super clean and well set up when you walk in. You enter to grab a bowl and tongs then pick right away what kind of food you want for your hot pot. It’s easy to put too much so go on the light side if it’s your first time. Then you go up to the counter and pick your soup base. Then they take it and cook it for you, brining it to your table. So in other words, it’s the best kind of hot pot. You don’t have to cook your own food, but get to eat it in individual bowls.Definitely a nice change to cooking the food in front of yourself and then taking just the pieces that are cooked one by one.Careful of the level of spice as it can get real hot really quick. Overall, great place. Love how clean it is, and how you can keep going back to try more and more with different sauces every other day. This place will definitely become a regular stop for us! ?
