My partner and I went here for dinner and we both agree it's one of the best meals we've had out together. We ordered 6 oysters and they brought a variety from 3 places and plenty of sauces. We had the scallop with pork belly which was fantastic. We also had mussels with lemon and thyme, broccolini and the mushroom risotto. Dinner was soooo good and they were also great about about allergies (nut, egg and sesame allergy). Thanks for the fantastic dinner we absolutely will be telling everyone we know to go here.

We were looking for a place with fresh seafood, and after looking at some reviews, we decided on Smitty's, and it did not dissappoint. Located along the marina, the atmosphere here is so amazing, inside and out, but sit outside if you can, it's beautiful.

The menu isn't very large, but it's a good thing when an establishment executes, and Smitty's does on all levels. We ordered bucket crab buckit, a variety of fresh raw oysters, the clam chowder, seared scallops, mussels, risotto, Tuna tartare, halibut fritters, the sabelfish and the tacos.

The raw oysters were the first to arrive and they was so plump and delicious. We had a variety from different parts of the bay, and paired with the cider sauce and a splash of hot sauce, made for the perfect appetizer. Then the chowder cam, and it was one of the highlights, super savoury, and paired perfectly with the included bread. Then came the main show.

We ordered a lot, and boy was it a feast for the eyes. All the food came out on a large wood platter, and was perfect for sharing, what an amazing display. And yes it was messy, but it's part of the fun. Another highlight were the halibut fritters. Perfectly battered, not heavy nor greasy, it was hit for the entire table. The crab was sweet, and the sabelfish was spot on, not overcooked or rubbery, just flakey heaven.

Service was another highlight for the evening. Our server was great, attentive and had a great personality. Actually most of the staff we observed were all smiles and provided an even greater atmosphere.

Parking was ok, plenty of street parking is available, although you may have a bit of a walk to the restaurant. It is, however, a very nice walk. The facilities are clean, and also kept.

All in all an amazing dinner, in an amazing environment, with great service! Have a nice walk to Smitty's, enjoy some great food and great laughs, and take a relaxing stroll along the marina to walk off the calories. ;)

Thanks for treating my family to a wonderful time!

Arrived around 2:15, gave our name and number, and were seated right at 3:30 exactly as promised for their last seating (4PM close Sundays, No reservations on long weekend). Initially disappointed not to get the patio, but the bar ended up being perfect for two; intimate, cozy, and with a front-row view of the oysters being shucked. All other tables are long, better for groups.

We got a mix of local and New Brunswick oysters, fresh & beautifully presented. Definitely pricey ($4/each) No regrets, but not an everyday experience. A must for seafood lovers.

Service was amazing! Staff l smiling, singing along to the music, and clearly happy to be there. The whole vibe was exactly what you would want it to be! The view of the boats docked outside, the stunning dish presentations, and the homemade sauces were the cherry on top. The rumours are true do not skip. Worth the wait!

Unfortunately, our server’s rude demeanor significantly dampened the evening. We were celebrating multiple birthdays with friends, and her attitude negatively impacted what could have been a fantastic experience. While the food and initial hospitality were excellent, the service fell short, leading to a three-star rating. I hope the restaurant addresses this, as our server’s approach didn’t align with the otherwise high quality of the establishment. This is disappointing as we’re locals and have lived on the Coast most of our lives!

Had a meal there last night. Overpriced appies that are called mains. They were tasty but we all left hungry. Worst waitress in my life. If ahe didn't want to be there, then don't work. The rest of the staff were great but she snarled at us the whole time. Won't go back and be treated like that ever again. 6 of us. The rest of Gibsons was amazing Thank you

Me and my wife happened upon Smitty's when walking along the Gibson sea wall. It was around 545 when we arrived and the place was busy. Fortunately the wait was only 30 minutes. It was definitely worth it. We ended up sitting outside and got to experience the amazing summertime weather while enjoying some oysters, crab cakes, prawns, mussels and some beers. Everything was delicious. The service was very friendly and helpful. Portions are not huge so you might think you're not getting the full bang for your buck, but I would recommend this place regardless. It feels like a bit of an institution here in Gibsons

✨ A Hidden Gem in Gibsons – A Magical Seafood Experience at Smitty’s ✨

We had such a wonderful experience at Smitty’s! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and taken care of. We were told it might be a 20-minute wait, but we were seated within seven—an unexpected and much-appreciated surprise, especially because we were starving and so excited to try the seafood.

We sat at the bar, which turned out to be the perfect spot for two. While the tables are large and perfect for big groups or families, the bar gave us an intimate and cozy setting without ever feeling awkward or out of place. The venue itself is absolutely stunning—dark, moody, and tastefully decorated, creating the atmosphere of an upscale yet grounded coastal restaurant. You can tell there was so much thought put into the design—it feels both elegant and earthy, like a love letter to the sea.

We started with oysters, which were deliciously fresh and beautifully presented. Although they weren’t local (the ones we tried were from NB) , they still carried the bright, clean taste of the ocean, and it did leave us wondering—why isn’t it more common in Canadian culture to celebrate and enjoy our own local seafood more often? There’s so much richness and beauty in what these coastal waters offer.

As for the menu overall—it’s not cheap, but that’s to be expected when the quality is this good. Every dish that passed by us looked like a piece of art, and we found ourselves dreaming of coming back with a bigger group so we could sample even more. It’s definitely the kind of place where sharing is encouraged and celebrated.

The service was kind, attentive, and warm. Everyone made us feel right at home without being overbearing. It’s rare to find that balance, and they absolutely nailed it.

All in all, Smitty’s is more than a meal—it’s an experience. We left full, happy, and excited to return. Next time, we’ll be back with friends so we can dive even deeper into the menu and share the joy.

Thank you for creating such a beautiful space and sharing such incredible food. We can’t wait to return. 💙🌊

Food and service were amazing. Only complaint is that serving size is on the small side for the price. Everything was delicious though!

We popped in for a bit of lunch, not only was the food delicious, the music a vibe and the drinks yum but we were sat at the bar and Jane was our server and she made the experience for us. We had a great laugh chatting to her while also talking us through the oyster selection and giving us some amazing recommendations for our time here. I recommend sitting at the bar for sure, it was the perfect lunchtime spot.
